I was thinking today that is so hard to recognize a good thing until its gone; even when you are so sure that you will notice when things have gotten better, somehow when they are better it seems inevitable, like how could anything be different to how it is!

Its too easy to take for granted the people and the things around you, or the work you have done to get where you are ~ I do this far too often :ohdear:

Particularly in the web revival scene (and on MelonLand), we have all been working for a few years now and so many people have built so many cool things ~ its nice to sit back and admire it all, but I also want to remember that it took work to get here, and it will continue to be work if its going to keep improving ~ there is lots to be done!

What are your tips for recognizing the work and progress you've made in your projects?

It's hard to see improvement on a daily basis. It feels like you're stuck, you're not moving  at all.

I think the best thing you can do is simply look back when you started. It doesn't matter how much you've improved, you're ALWAYS BETTER than when you started. Taking a step back not only reafirms your improvement, but also helps to understand what other things you need to get better, and set new goals in order to achieve that, whatever you're learning/doing.
