SuperTuxKart - FLOSS racing game

Is anyone interested in playing SuperTuxKart? It is a free, open source kart-racing game, somewhat similar to SuperMarioKart - but it has its own gameplay, and is pretty neat.

A few friends and me have a somewhat regular-happening online session alive, usually taking place on Monday at ~20.30 o'clock (UTC+0). We also use Mumble to voice-chat while playing, so feel invited! The skill-level is rather low-to-medium; getting known to the game will surely help to have fun, though.

If you are reluctant to join there, and we have a few people who are interested here, we can also try to organize an Melonland-intern Grand Prix ;).

It might be also be interesting to some of you that the game allows user generated maps and karts - it might be a good entry point for 3D-modeling (and modding in general).

OH YEAH SUPER TUX KART one of those things that are on my list of "cool passing by things i'd like to go back to someday but never found the time to"... until now? 

I'd like to join your group but I usually have theatre class at those hours  But I'd love a forum event kind of deal or more opportunities to play with other forum members overall    And maybe even brush up my 3D modelling skills...

That sounds so fun! I really wish I could but I have to leave for D&D around that time. If you ever start going on another time/day and are still looking for other players, please reach out if you can. I'd also look into joining for a forum event type thing so I'll keep an eye out in case you end up doing that. I hope you find some players

Ooh, SuperTuxKart! I have this cozily on my Retroid Pocket 5, even got mods for it like Minetest/Luanti Sam, F-Droid, & there's even mods that include Mario & Sonic too on Gamebanana. Solid racing game ^^

Haven't done any online multiplayer with STK yet, that part's whatever though :p

Nope, still got theatre  It wouldn't be possible Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays starting from 6 PM according to UTC, but I could do earlier, tho!  Or Tuesdays and Thursdays or weekends. If it's a weekend, maybe I could rope in my bf too...

On both dates, I'd be flexible regarding the time - so earlier is also possible, although I believe that the evening might be favorable to most people.

I willl try to join this if someone reminds me  I remember playing TuxKart around 2007 (it was pretty rough) Im curious to see how its improved! I remember finding it on the 3rd party downloads section of the Apple website which I guess is a really weird place to know about it from, but those were weird times!

I'm not much on multiplayer to be frank. Maybe one day I'll check out the multiplayer side of STK.

Yeah, I can make that work instead!  Good idea to have two dates in case some of us can't make it. I wish it was this easy in real life!

I can also recommend to drive a few rounds, and especially try to mess a bit around with the sliding mechanic - it is very powerful.

@Melooon I will remind you ;). A lot of things have changed since 2007, but some of the maps and models are still in the game (or can be installed as plugin).
