Hey, question to anyone who has one of these, does it have native podcast support and/or a system to mark files as "listened to" easily? I think that would be my main use case, so it would be helpful to know ahead of time.

Neither, it's pretty much exclusively for music playback and that. It lists songs, you play them, and that's more or less it.

looks really cute! I wish there was a mode that displays more info rather than a tape UI skin.

I used to own a cheap MP3 player from amazon back in 2021 and it didn't even last a full yr until my brother dropped it and broke the screen's cable...

There is an album art display mode that uses the art from the file metadata (see image below)

There's no playlists. Only albums, songs, and a single favourites list you can set in the player

You can theoretically create playlists by like, making a folder with your needed music (on PC) and then just playing that folder, or otherwise using metadata to do it.

Otherwise, as PossiblyAxolotl said, no playlists, only Favorites.

I got myself one of these too just today. After making do with an old phone with a dying battery it was time to treat myself to a nifty piece of tech. It does exactly what I need it to do and nothing more: Play music. It looks and feels very slick and premium and though I needed a YouTube video to understand the controls, they are perfectly fine. I'm glad there's something like this that is both aesthetically nice and works as intended. Music sounds good, too! I'm a fan.

(The fake battery lid on the back completely fooled me, tried prying it open for a good minute before realising it was just another aesthetic thing.)

i caught word of this lil gadget just yesterday and started looking into it! may or may not get; the price is nice but i'd be happier spending a bit more to get something with a better DAC. i fear i'll go a bit crazy if there isn't enough warmth in the sound output!
i've also heard that its bluetooth support is limited. sure, i really ought to go a little more analog, and i've still got the AUX cord that came with my sony XM5 headphones but it'd still be a shame if I couldn't get them to connect to each other (◞‸◟；)

anyone tried any of FiiO's other DAPs, or anything else that's similar for that matter? would love some recs and testimonials

This thread is a good read! I've been wanting to pull away from music streaming and look into portable devices like this that aren't my crummy phone. Cancelled spotify months ago, experimented with Tidal and Qobuz but I think I'm just deeply unsatisfied with the fact that I don't own any of the music I listen to.
