hello! ive made a personal website for the what feels like 100th time and its in a framework that actually seems editable- this was all well and good when i was doing the about and links page and such but now that i have to do the more material "content" im hitting choice paralysis  :seal:

im intending pages about my original artwork/writing and some fandom stuff and a lot of it what will be on the site is already decided i just have to... do it. make the things. but theres so much that it feels overwhelming deciding.

how have you guys gone about it?  :ozwomp:  :ozwomp:

Honestly, I make a spreadsheet to-do list with everything I want to do on it, and if I feel stuck I pick something random to commit to finishing. It makes it easier for some reason, especially to see them all written out like that. Plus, it's so satisfying to remove something from the list once it's finished. I have sections for basically anything I want to do and it's helped keep me on track and get things done. Your mileage may vary though!

i have a google doc checklist in the works! i might finish up the subsections on that before doing anything but i also keep remembering the trap writers fall in where they outline more than they actually write, lmao

I personally use taskwarrior as a todolist, its a bit more advanced (its terminal only) but it has a lot of nice features.

Anyways, for choosing "what to do next" I keep a "someday list" by just creating a bunch of tasks with a waiting value of "someday" (the wait date of a task means that task will never appear on the main list until that date, and "someday" maps to 9999-12-31). Having a list of stuff that I could do helps to get stuff off my head and in a tangible form.

A spreadsheet or a to-do list is a really good idea. For me, I try to focus on making pages that I can link to another page, because I don't want a bunch of one-off orphan pages floating around. That makes it a bit easier to decide on what to do, too, because I'm following a trail, basically.

If you're feeling very overwhelmed, try writing down everything you want to do on a numbered list, then use a random number generator to pick a number and do that thing. :ha:
