Fun idea, but I think some things don't hold up.

For once, maximalist retro web sites definitely aren't smaller than modern websites, with the lavish images, embedded music, dozens of gifs, and so on bloating up the file size and processing power to an almost absurd level.

On the other side, "blank white site" would actually be a plus (see xhtml.club), but instead the modern web is NOT that simple and contenr focused. And, well, I don't think we can deny that the modern web has plenty of people to talk to and content to watch compared to our meagre subculture.

“Palatial maze for the eyes” gave me a sensible chuckle.

This is beautiful. I am going to send this to all of my friends with the hope of getting them to finally do website things with me, since they aren't really in the indie web internet sphere even though I know that they'd probably enjoy it.

Mind if I steal thisssss :3c
Thank you for creating this meme. Now whenever I see an argument on coding conventions, I can end it by depicting indieweb as the chad muscular shiba inu vs the small defenseless corpoweb one. XD
