I've been starting to think about game controllers lately, since earlier I saw that the prices for a Switch controller is like, 60 bucks. Personally I think that is WAY too much for a single controller, it's about as equivalent as chopping off one of your forearms. :drat:

I looked into some 8BitDo controllers earlier, thinking about finding one that can work on Android. I don't really know much about controllers since...
  • The only controllers I ever had were a Gamecube and USB N64 one, which those have long been gone.
  • Retroid Pocket doesn't count since it's built into the system.
  • When I did have a Switch controller it was from my bro-in-law and it was only for a limited time since I just wanted to test Bloopair - I have a modded Wii U.

So now I'm in this spot where I'm not sure which one I should consider in the future, so I figured I'd reach out to any Melonlanders who know which controllers are good.
What I've thought of so far is the Ultimate 2C one partly because there's a blue option and blue's my fave color but if there's any other controllers you know of that are good then let me know.

The only thing I'd find myself using a Switch controller for is my modded Wii U thanks to Bloopair, other than that, it's empty waters out here.

I also did check the Bloopair Github page and it doesn't list any 8BitDo controllers. Again I'm pretty much in the dark on this so... doesn't hurt to ask.

also it doesn't have to be just 8bitdo it can be any kind of controller brand, i just happen to know only 8bitdo so far-

I asked almost the same question on Lemmy not long ago (here). I got a lot of answers and what i got from them is that 8BitDo is popular.

I settled on a wired Logitech F310 because it's pretty affordable, wired, and has Xinput. I couldn't get it to work with my modded Wii U but i also didn't expect it to. If you'll be gaming on Android you probably want something wireless, unless you're using a computer that has USB-A ports and also runs an operating system for phones.

The only other controllers i've used much are DualShock 4 (for Playstation), Wii U Pro, and Wiimotes.
  • The DS4 can connect to my computer over a wire or BlueTooth but doesn't use Xinput so a lot of games won't interpret it right.
  • The Wii U Pro controller connets fine over BT but not wired, and most games treat it as an Xbox controller.
  • I've had trouble connecting my Wiimotes to my computer for games. Supposedly there are accessories you can get to make that work but i don't have them.
