naïve wishes (positive)

¹naïve not in a bad way. in a "genuine" way. no need to make a plan of it yet if you're not ready. if you feel like it's something fragile and genuine, then cherish it and let it blossom.

small or big. something material or not.
something you really really want, but which isn't (currently) possible. it doesn't have to be "serious" or "realistic". doesn't matter if someone would think it's childish or cringe.
something that would bring you joy. or at least would make you less upset.

imagine you have enough money, enough health and mobility, enough emotional energy, enough time.
wishing money, health, good relationships is understandable. but what about other, more specific, personal things?

and who knows, maybe some of it will become true one day? 
i have a few i can think of:

• to craft/buy a kantele
  
• to craft my own hunting knife (not for hunting)
• to live in the village again
• to build a (wooden) šauna/banya like my father
• to travel north every summer at least for few weeks (when it's too hot here)
• to make a game with my worldbuilding, its big-ass map in there, and all characters i have
• to make a Skyrim mod with my cat as a Khajiit follower

• feel like I have enough free time to give to all the projects I want to

hehe, i already see so many birds in my garden. but i'd like to go somewhere more rural; there's a wildlife reserve not far from here and i think about it all the time. i'll have to go soon!

Someday, I'd like to...

• Accomplish something with my writing (either through a book or a screenplay)
• Become skilled enough at drawing
• Have a decent-sized group of friends irl
• Expand my site until I'm fully satisfied with it
• Become competent enough with RPGmaker
• Own a cat
• Finally learn how to drive

I'll give a go, maybe I'll achieve them one day.

• I want to write and make an actual song (or at least a loop). A lot of musicians say that they have ideas for songs but don't know how to transcribe them in a DAW or in sheet paper. I must be the opposite. I can play the piano and drums and can read sheet music, but I struggle to generate melodies or rhythms in my head. I can only play existing music and I would love to compose something of my own.
• Create the first chapter of my comic. I'm hoping to get this done next year as I plan to include it in my final major project for university. Then I'll have to work on it!
• Learn how to make Chicken Katsu Curry. I have only ate this in either restaurants or in ready meals and I thoroughly enjoyed it! It also seems easy-ish to make. The only thing I would do differently is cooking the chicken katsu in the oven rather than deep-frying it. I do not trust myself around hot oil.

I'd love to....

-Learn how to play an instrument, well!! I've played a little bit of piano and guitar throughout my life, but haven't really played either in earnest since I was a teenager. It's mostly about not having the time or resources right now --don't have the time for practicing regularly, don't own the instruments anymore, can't afford lessons. One day though!

-Write something I'm proud of, that has an audience beyond my few friends that read my blog. I'd love to write a short story, novel, something of that nature or maybe a screenplay or stage play? I want to have the space to experiment with form more, and to do so in a way that resonates with others.

-To get more creative with my fashion, to have more fun accessories and makeup at my disposal

-To have the time to develop skills to create my own web page/web art!!

These are the first few things I thought of.. but my list of naive wishes is practically endless. Here's to hoping we all accomplish ours some day!

i did a "15 before 30" list some months ago (i'm presently 25, for reference). most of it is honestly just, like, life maintenance stuff? like a work-life balance, a physical activity i like, becoming competent with paperwork, but there's also...
- publish a chapbook and/or novel someday
- host my parents whenever i end up moving out, including making them dinner
- release an ep someday
- find somewhere to volunteer regularly
- be better at reaching out to/keeping in touch with people in my life
- keep making art about my experiences as a queer disabled traumatized weirdo
- sew something i'm proud of

i dunno if it's too ambitious or not, but it's nice writing it down.

-create a YouTube channel and post videos about in depth deep dives into some of my special interests
-re learn how to animate and create an animation meme
-fully dedicate myself to consistent art study (specifically anatomy, perspective and form)
-actually have the courage to explore and experiment with my fashion sense
-start doing daily walks again
-maybe pick up reading again too
-have the energy to cook for myself more
-be more independent and less scared of being alone in public
-start picking up more art mediums, especially painting, plush making and fursuit making

Even a few minutes here and there can make all the difference.

I never learned to play anything at all until the UK's second Covid lockdown when, going slightly crazy stuck at home, I decided to try to learn the piano. I started with a book my partner bought for our kids that they'd never used, which comes with stickers for the keys and begins with real basic stuff like going up and down scales. Then moved on to a book called "Top 50 Disney Songs For The Piano" because I figured that I'd know the songs well enough to hear when I was doing them well. Then moved on to Einaudi, which really stretched my brain.

Then my partner's husband bought me a book on learning to improvise and I've been hooked on that journey ever since. It's been five years now, and I play almost every day... but usually only for about 5 to 10 minutes! (While I wait for my lunch to warm up or something!) But even 5-10 minutes a day, every day, adds up over time.

Sure, I'll never be as good as the average 8-year-old pianist on YouTube; but that's fine! I sit down, I jam a little, I make tiny strides, and it feels like I'm using a part of my brain I don't use for anything else. I've been working super-slowly on my first real composition, but mostly I just mash together fragments of tunes I know, ditties in my brain, and whatever "feels right". I love it.

tl;dr: if you want to play an instrument, find 5 minutes a day; that's enough to get the benefits of it IMHO

My naïve wishes? I have a decent amount .

• Run a decently-made DnD campaign for my friends: I've run campaigns/one-shots in the past, but I never really felt that they were any good . I'd love to finally make a fleshed out world and have them explore it!
  
• Get better at coding: I really want to have a better understanding of both frontend and backend code, because I think its really fun! I'm not necessarily looking for a job or anything, I just want to explore the limits of what a computer can do.
  
• Find more communities: I've always been a bit of a shy person, but I'm working on opening up a bit and finding my people both offline and online. For that reason, I'm really grateful for MelonLand and the Playdate communities, they've really helped me find a footing !
