Spotted in Cork, Ireland on the 4th of March 2022!

I regret to report that as of Summer 2025 this phone box is now gone, and the shopping center has been renamed to something generic and crappy. I examined the location but I only found a few bits on metal left in the ground where the phone box once stood. I stood there for a while in honour of it and felt what it felt like to be a phone box, people walked around, I had a great view of everything and felt very important and useful ~ I hope the phone box remembered that during its abandoned later years! You're not forgotten phone box!

I've seen quite a few payphones near where I live, though unfortunately, they aren't functional anymore. :'(

I'm still hoping I'll find one that actually still works and be able to drop a few cents into the box make a random call just so I can say I've used a payphone at least once in my life.

My village's last payphone was removed a few years before I got here. Where it was is a metal junction box where the fibre Internet connections get split out, so it's not all bad.

But though they removed the payphone, they failed to remove the sign on the main road - probably because it's half-hidden in a tree - that points to where it used to be. As the leaves begin to fall each Autumn, the sign becomes visible once more, pointing to... nothing:

I didn't grab a picture but recently I was on my best friend's college campus (a smaller campus) and he had what clearly used to be a payphone in the stairwell of his dorm building! You could still see the phone jack. Sadly, it was gone though. :(

Oh man!

On Christmas Eve I visited family in Preston in the North-West of England, and while there I hoped to snap for you a photo of the UK's longest line of classic (K6, in this case) red telephone boxes. But they weren't there because the whole lot of them were off being refurbished!
