Added some random splash text to my site's homepage! Most of them are just random inside jokes or references. Normally I wouldn't bother showing off something so small but something about it makes me happy.

Last week Thursday my forum celebrated 16 years! It feels weird to know that it's the same age now as I was when I moved it to its permanent home on my domain, away from the free forum site I used before.

That is quite an achievement.

Would you say that you have often questioned why you still keep it running, or do you like it now as much as you did when you made it?

People don't realize how much a maintainer of a site can sometimes not want the responsibility anymore.

Thanks! I've never really wondered why I keep the site running (forum specifically, since the other section is super active still) because I know that it is still a place on the internet for people to gather if they want to, but we've definitely had slower times over the years that make it feel like a "dead" forum for a little while. So I guess it's more about keeping motivated to keep activity going when sites like this are harder to get "off the ground" continually in recent years. I like the tinkering responsibility, personally, so it gives me something to work on over time too!

That's a good point. Once you have any users, past or present, there's a good chance there is no more "making another site" that will be worth as much.

i finished up the post while packing for a con so i guess my quick scan of my formatting failed me... since my blog is just written in html maybe i should get in the habit of just formatting the links correctly to begin with xD

This sounds cool! Do you have a guide you followed or anything? I'd like to see this. I have a few Raspberry Pis I wish I could do more with but I never seem to find an idea I like for them, haha.

No, I just went into it raw. The way it's coded is really, REALLY simple tho, all it does is log in automatically to a raw X Window, and run some terminals with position flags to make up the UI.

After noodling about with HTML and CSS for about a month, I have a live website that is filled out enough for me to feel comfortable sharing it! lovethea.net

It feels like the more I work on it the more things I think of to add, so I already have a todo section in my about page for the site. I'm still over the moon about how it's looking since I never thought I would be able to make a website that I was happy with the appearance of, but here I am! ^_^
