I made an update to my home page https://postponed0x00.gay now it has a custom made guestbook! I made it on node.js (so modern, eww, i know) it's a simple program that receives the entry from a POST response from the form entry and on a GET request returns the last 100 entries. I might replace it with a more memory friendly application, but this will do for now. It's not super complicated, but I'm very proud of it. It's also hidden in a small CSS state machine that manages the hidden window that I'm also very proud of!

I added a Postcards from the Internet! page to collect the scans of the (physical, snail mail!) postcards that people on the Internet send me, after I set up a PO Box a few weeks ago and started soliciting for people to send me things.
The first two cards I received, ignoring a test card I sent myself and a postcard I received years ago, were from our very own @bodypoetic and @rhyswynne (thank you both so much!). As well as appearing on my blog, my PO Box address is on my Melonland Forum profile if you want to send me one too!

i suppose i made a little web clique for FRODO LIVES pins, reminiscent of the 1960s anti-war protests in america, though i also included tolkein's views. kind of long read for a clique (honestly, i'm just nerdin tf out, plz excuse), but tldr: tolkein was an anarchist and had an UTTER distaste for tyrants. The pins are really cool; I love this page. I agree with you that Gandalf wouldn't have wanted to be President, though: between his powers both mystical and political, he'd be much too-dangerous for the world of men, and while I'm sure he'd be a gracious leader I'm also confident that he'd fear the possibility of his succumbing to corruption.
(Still, I'd 100% take Gandalf over that president you've got over there nowadays.)
I stopped by Tolkein's grave the other week: he's buried not far from me (in fact, back when I used to work here [where, among other things, I helped create an exhibition specifically about Tolkien and his works] I used to cycle past the graveyard where he's buried a dozen times a week). It's quite remarkable how many people treat doing so as a pilgrimage: every time I've seen it his headstone is covered with gifts: flowers, rings, and copious written notes and poetry - some of it in Elvish: it's a pretty unusual place to visit, for sure!

Started working last night on the "sticker sheets" idea I've had for the next version of my site's design. The idea is that you'll randomly find sticker sheets on my site and you can deface pages by sticking stickers all over them.Haven't implemented the storage component (so it remembers what you stuck where) yet, but the UI for the stickers is mostly done at least. I was pleased with my implementation of code to give the sticker sheet "inertia" so that you can "throw" it across the page and it slows down as if by friction (possibly rotating a little as it does so).
