Hey all! Just want to get some eyes on this passion project I'm working on. Any comments appreciated! Ok, time for me to stop procrastinating bye!!!! The cave was perfect: cool, dark, and in an area no sane person would dare tread. Fox dropped their pack just behind a rock and began to unpack, setting up their bedroll, camp-stove, and lantern, making sure to pin their tarp up over the cave's entrance. Most of what was in their pack was stolen goods - it turns out townspeople are incredibly unaware of their stuff when you set a building on fire.
With a sigh, Fox plopped onto the bedroll and started the stove. The hunt had been good today, and all together they had caught quite a tasty dinner: a hastily spit-roast rabbit with a herb-and-berry salad on the side. It had been a journey to find even this much, though. That was the only ding in the cave's otherwise perfect record; Fox had to make quite the trek to find game.
They had made a mistake earlier, and nearly wandered into the nearby town's garden. The sweet smell of flowers had drawn them in, and, convinced they were near a clearing, they walked through the foliage, only to be met with a startled Florist holding a bouquet. Though only a split second had passed before Fox had immediately hightailed it out of there, something kept dragging their mind back to that moment. There was something in the Florist's eyes, something like... recognition? No, no, that was ridiculous, they hadn't burnt down or stolen anything in this area yet, and that was probably the only reason someone would recognize them. Probably.
“Have I been here before?” was the question that began to gnaw at them as they set out the rabbit and prepped the little salad. While yes, the surrounding area appeared unfamiliar, everything had started to blur together these last couple years. As it turns out, when you're focused more on food and not getting eaten alive by a surprise undead than your surrounding area, places start to blend together just a little bit. Plus, they don't like thinking too hard about the places they'd been, because then they started thinking about their past and the people in it...
Fox shook their head and wiggled their shoulders as if attempting to shake off a bug. No use in gathering bad vibes just before bed, right? They hurriedly finished eating their salad, and, with a few cursory drops of aromatic oil on the stone around the bedroll, they cosied up for the night.
P.S. have a good day!
