Discovered this bad boy and it looks like it has seen better days.




Looks like it was made around 2000 (could be wrong), way before Canon added online capabilities and subscriptions to be a very extra annoying. (on another note, they also did something similar with their cameras)

Oof, that thing's rough! It looks about as bad as the scanners I pull out of the public labs at the place I work. Young folks put those things through some serious abuse--the last one I remember had its top flap completely separated from the bottom!

I've got one at home that's a combination printer/scanner and works for my needs (scanning artwork and printing for crafts). I'd be happy to use an older one, since you can usually always hook them up with generic drivers these days, and ink isn't too bad secondhand, but I've never come across them in the wild.

Working in IT, printers and scanners are an absolute nightmare to work with. But since I use one at home, I do understand the need for them.

Edit: since you're talking about scanners, I watched this really fascinating video about the history of scanners by Cathode Ray Dude:


He says in the intro it's a boring topic, but I found the video very interesting!
