Do you use "Recent Posts" like a forum feed?

I'm curious how people use the forum after someone recently mentioned they primarily use the "Recent posts" page as their main method of reading the forum. To be frank I do the same. I don't explore actual boards nearly as often as checking the recent feed.

Partly for me that's because I've been on the forum long enough to know most of the threads that are on the go, so I just want the updates. However it does pose an interesting interface-design question if people are mostly using one sub-page as the main feed for the site!

How do you read the forum mostly???

I also just check on the recent posts. Sometimes I browse the boards manually, but that's less common. I used to be subscribed to the forum's RSS feed, but when I switched my desktop OS I forgot to back up my feeds and I still haven't resubscribed to most of them.

I mostly just look through the forum boards when I want to post something, though maybe I should start looking through the recent posts more often! Though with that I might not visit older topics as often which isn't great...    Maybe I should just click the random button until I find something I'm interested in

tbh i mostly look through specific boards dedicated for topics i'm most interested in, though I do wanna start looking through the recent posts more...

For some reason, I always just read through the Recent Posts until I see a post I remember reading the day prior. I read that shit like it's the daily paper...

t's the first thing I check when I open the forum. I wanna know what people are currently talking about. I then click on a reply that interest me to read the entire thread. That's pretty much my main way of browsing the forum.

Same here, I read this thread and then opened Recent Posts for the first time ever  I feel like I like the format of the Unread Topics page better for some reason, but maybe that's just because it's what I'm used to.

I just looked at "Recent Posts" for the first time ever and... I will absolutely not use that!    LOL it feels so overwhelming to me like just one look at it and I don't know how I can keep my head straight reading through that. Might be the ADHD but that looks like an informational overload to me without any way to contain it.

Typically I'll open a favorite subforum and browse through unread topics from there. Usually my first stop is the "Worldbuilding" forum although its a quiet one, followed by "Web Crafting" the "Life on the Web". I also look through the "Last Post" topics from the main page and if I catch a title there that catches me eye I'll read the thread.

I also float in and out of the forum in general, like its been a few weeks since I've actively browsed here, even though I still consider this one of my main "online hangouts". Even coming back after a few weeks, I still checked the same three subforums before browsing everything else.

Rarely do I read the newest posts on the forum here, I only really started to touch the actual forum recently instead of just sitting in the chatroom.

I tend to look at the forum topics I find interesting, like Web Crafting and Worldbuilding.

Though maybe I should start looking at the recent topics...

I check out recent Posts basically daily!
I've also been wanting the ability to "mute" certain specific threads as well. I specifically wanted to hide a specific picture-heavy one which's subject I really do not care about haha.

Maybe I should check out unread topics/replies tough! I'm usually either going thru recent posts or navigating the tree.

I use unread topics. That way the recent posts come in context.
