If I'm not mistaken on board pages, threads that are unread have the word "New" at the end of their title?
While on the homepage, boards that have newly posted topics since you last looked have an illuminated city (or star on the blue theme).

I use the regular theme, and I have to admit that I didn't notice there was a greyed out version of the city vs a colourful version on the homepage!  :ok:  Thanks for letting me know, I'll make use of this from now on.  :unite:

This one has been on and off the cards for a while simply because its not a feature that Iv been able to find a plugin for and its quite complex to custom make it ~ I'm still trying to figure out a fair solutions.
[...]
I'm also kinda aware that a lot of people use the "Recent Posts" list a bit like a social media feed, but since it wasn't designed to be a feed like that, we don't really have the infrastructure to tailor it to peoples wishes the way a feed normally would be.

i do use the recent posts list as my main forum browsing tool! sort of like a social media feed, i suppose. i love to see what's new and on people's minds. i thought it might be relatively simple to mute threads, since muting categories takes threads the recent posts list, but i don't know anything at all about forum software or how it works :ha:

We don't actually have a block or mute system ~ we have an "Ignore private messages from this person" system :ziped: (that's actually what the list is called in the code). Again its a case of ~ blocking is not a feature that seems to exist for this forum software, so we kinda have to invent it from scratch - I think this one would be a little easier to do though, since the code to add and remove people from your ignore list already exists and is working - we just need to tie that code into the post lists, to maybe hide or spoiler posts by ignored people?

interesting!! it seems like it works kind of partway, actually? an ignored user's posts are hidden in the "topic summary" portion of the "post reply" page, interestingly. (it collapses the post and just shows you the username and timestamp and "You are ignoring this user. Show me the post." with "show me the post" being clickable to reveal the post)
not sure what the deal is there but maybe helpful information anyway...?
at any rate, it's nothing super urgent or necessary. if it's difficult to do, then whatever ~ it seems like it'd be a chore to figure out and not especially fun or interesting once figured. plenty of other things to spend one's time on.

We should have a Class Pet- a digital pet that we can all interact with and care for. Their status would sync between all users, like the old water overlay. I realize this would be very difficult to code but I think it would be funny  :ok:

OMG this is making my head wheels turn soooooo much and I want to make this now! Almost like ThisWebsiteWillSelfDestruct.com before it exploded!!!

OMG THERE'S A .PET TOP LEVEL DOMAIN.

I used to use Comicfury at one point, and on Comicfury, they give you the option to temporarily lock yourself out of the website!

While you're locked out, you can't view any pages on the site at all. You can't even log out to bypass it, because that page gets blocked too!

I can't see why one would use it over just simply signing off and using self control, but it really just feels like something that I'd expect to see here in Melonland, so I thought I would go bring it up as a suggestion

That does sound like something that Melonland would use, and while yea it is kinda silly it's a cute idea. I use comicfury and haven't noticed that option, tho ^^

A suggestion if I may. This is not unique to this forum, but I am a victim of accidentally closing tabs, browsers crashing, force reloading out of nowhere, the works. But worst of all is my hand slipping and closing the tab or accidentally clicking a link I didn't mean to. Is it possible to implement a popup like the one below?

Just to make it easier to not losing posts!

This would be useful for me, too. I've lost many a long forum post because I accidentally closed a tab/window :(

Maybe some way to download a thread would be nice? I have like 10 tabs of threads open because I'm worried if I bookmark them I might need them on a monday and then be screwed

This already exists, you can click the "Print Topic" button and save the printout as a PDF instead of actually printing it!

Oops I created a new topic instead of posting my suggestion here. Feel free to delete that!

Suggestion: A ‘new topic’ button on top level pages (home, recent posts, own topics, etc). Then on the ‘Start new topic’ page, there’d be a new dropdown above ‘Subject’ to select which board to post the topic to. I think this’d encourage new threads. And it’d help newbies learn the boards / what they’re for and feel confident they’re posting to the right one.

Requesting for MelonLand to be made responsive so it loads nice on mobile! It’s an accessibility matter that I think would increase usage and member longevity!

Requesting for MelonLand to be made responsive
If you have 6 months to re-code all four themes using responsive divs instead of table based layouts; while maintaining compatibility with plugins that go back to 2008, on forum software that's no longer maintained; and while still maintaining the aesthetic feel of a 90s forum ... and you're willing to do it for free, then you're hired

EDIT: Ok I'll give a less sarcastic answer ~ the best thing we could do is add an extra theme that's aimed at mobile use; such as https://custom.simplemachines.org/index.php?theme=2806 - it would not really be easy to maintain any soul on a theme like that, but it would offer basic functionality even if bits of it were still kinda broken.
