If you'd like to start messing with the popup in the inspector that would be a huge help! Particularly figuring out things like why it does not seem to expand when embedded in iFrames; what features are missing or would improve it, how easy is it to theme etc - basically I would like to know if its worth following that path. If you do make some successful themes for it, your welcome to share the CSS in a thread and we can get some opinions from people

If possible, could you make the global rss feed for this site (https://forum.melonland.net/index.php?action=.xml;type=atom;limit=15) more accurate? It would be nice to be alerted to each new message without having to go through and add a feed for every board on here. Also, having a link for it on the home page would be nice as well.

I'm not totally sure I understand what you mean here; as far as I know the main feed shows all posts on the forum!

Weird, I feel like it sometimes doesn't display everything. Maybe my newsreader is filtering some stuff, not sure..

One thing that I think would be nice if there was some kind of indicator for if you've already posted in this thread? I often want to put in a reply but can't remember if I've answered and there's so many pages to go thru to check.

You click the posts title to load a direct link to the individual post, then you click "Add Bookmark" in your browsers bookmarks toolbar

You can also use the "print post" button to save and read it in a simple text format, even on Mondays!

I was considering for the Art Gallery that when you submit some photography there could be a descriptor for the type of camera that is used, similar to Flickr... Or perhaps I will start tagging my photos with the cameras I use, I suppose.

I share the sentiment posted before that it'd be nice to have a way to bookmark topics, but also perhaps the option to bookmark posts? And to have the option to share them or not, that is, if keeping them for yourself is not the default already

Sooo Iv seen this request come up a few times and it still really confuses me, so it'd be really helpful if you could explain what you'd like more.

What is the reason the bookmark feature in your bowser is not an adequate bookmark feature? What is it missing that you'd like added on the forum side that's not in your browser already? Is it just the ability to create a public list of favourite topics? (which you could do, all be it manually with html)

I guess I just want to have things in their own place - admittedly, my browser bookmarks aren't as frequently used or as organized as I wish to be 

There's a Spanish expression, "cajón de sastre" (tailor's drawer), which means any kind of place you put anything you don't know where else to put it. Loose screws, loose buttons, elastic bands, random office supplies... one thing I love about that expression is how you can easily turn it into "cajón desastre" (disaster drawer) because that's the kind of chaos it eventually gathers.

That's how I feel about my browser bookmarks. If I put a link in there I can't quite guarantee I'll find it again, or I'll even remember it. Out of sight, out of mind, you know?

Now, that was quite a problem when I decided to specifically look for art advice on the Internet and have all those useful links on hand. At first, I tried an organization program, Turtl, similar to Evernote or OneNote. And while it's a good program and I recommend it, I felt I could do something a little more... customizable. I started to put all those links on a webpage. And that's how my art resources page was born. 

...but I can't do the same with forum links, can I? Wouldn't that be kind of creepy? I'm not against posting one or two links to forums if they are discussing interesting art info I cannot get elsewhere, but with Melonland... I'm trying to keep track of ongoing conversations, and I don't think a webpage like Art Resources is the answer here.

I'm currently using the Notify/Alert settings within Melonland, as well as the Unread Topics/Replies, which do a pretty good job of reminding me topics I like exist: but I find them to be a little too attention-based. Like, it only pops up when something new is added. What if I just want to check out a topic even if nobody has commented on it for 2 months? A smaller, more limited "drawer" (a little box where I only put loose ribbons, for example) would help find these topics easier.

They're not bad ideas, mind you, I just think it could use a few more good ideas... and I thought a bookmark system would be one.

I was wondering if it was at all possible to put together a setting that allows you to condense people's signatures if they get too tall. I know you can turn them off, but I do actually LIKE seeing them, but I've seen some that take up all or almost all of my screen even on desktop and it's really distracting. I wouldn't want to restrict anyone to NOT do that but I would love to see some setting in the middle between turning it off or having the whole thing visible.

On Tumblr an extension called Xkit has a setting that condenses posts in your queue so you have to scroll through them to see the whole thing, it makes sorting through the queue a little easier because you don't have to go past fully sized posts. Something like that maybe?

Adding per-user settings is a suuppeerrr big job and I try to avoid it at all costs However I set a global height limit of 250px on all signatures, after that they will become scroll boxes ^^
