The purpose of the season dates is deliberately to remove the feeling divided time. The idea is to create a continues stream of time without a sense of loss or distance, everything is supposed to feel like it could have been yesterday or 20 years ago.

Of course its an experiment, but I think that removal of time already suits the web revival far more than the traditional concept of structured time ever did. Rather than time being imposed as an external score or counter, it becomes something that you decide based on what you feel is old or new or worthy of being active. Essentially moving the forum out of linear time and into a kind of loose take on "dreamtime".

There's nothing stopping people from counting time in the forum, but the forum now won't do it for you by default, its up to you to develop your own method.

Oh, my assumption was that it was to make the forum feel more like a place. I like the idea.

My alternative suggestion then is to make the seasons names more evocative. Examples: "The season of harvest" instead of "Autumn" or even integrate the moon cycle into the date.

Maybe! We can definitely explore adding more to it, it turned out to be a very quick little edit and there's a lot of room for improvement. It would be really cool to have member created time blocks of some sort, where people can decide if its the month of the worm one particular month or something.

i really like cinni's dreamy theme, but can it do without the inverted text colors on posts? my posts' default format is in purple, but with this theme, it just looks wrong in dark green

really, the only color that is hard to read on light mode would be yellow. so why not just make that color a bit darker when the dreamy theme is applied?

Agreed, I did a bunch of work on making the cinni theme.. usable    last year, but it could still use more work; the inverted colors was a quick fix for readability, but its not a very good one; I'll think of something better.

Hide comment and like counts in the art hub, or make them only visible to the creator of a work.

oh dear. but friend, that IS what it feels like. WITH the timestamps. I always check the timestamp to make sure I'm not replying to something that's 20 years old. that's so embarrassing!

or at least, I want to KNOW I'm replying to something old. even if it's only a month old! I love a transient gimmick, but please don't make it permanent D:

The change has been messing with me since it was implemented, and it's for this exact reason. I'm not online 24/7, and despite using the forum's RSS feed, being able to see the actual timestamps (or having SOME obvious system of telling time) is important for me. Bring back the swatch time I beeeeg of you. "A summer day" literally tells me nothing about when it was posted.

At the very least, give us an option in settings to use the regular timestamps. I think that could satisfy both sides.

Like all options, that option has been there from the start for those who find themselves seeking it out But LEST ye seek what ye know to be familiar at the harm of being something new.

I for one thing this is a great advancement since it will revitalize old topics and demote the silly idea of Necrothreads people should add their part of a conversation no matter the age of it

So to be frank I have no idea what artfight is, but as far as I know its login walled; meaning if someone who's not on artfight clicks that link they just get hit with a blank login screen. I'm not super in favor of supporting links to login-walled sites, however if there are public profiles I can link I'd be happy to add those!
