My new side project: status.cafe

Greetings all!

I wasn't sure where the best place was to post this, but I figured this board looks super comfy. I just finished a side-project called status.cafe. It's a place where we can share our current status. It's heavily inspired by imood and SpaceHey.

There aren't many features, but there are some:

• Your profile page can be completely customized with HTML and CSS, a little like this one from dream
• There's a bookmarklet that lets you update your status from anywhere
• There's a widget that lets you show your latest status on your homepage, like what I added at the top of mine.
• You can subscribe to any person you'd like with Atom

And that's it! It's still very new and I'm sure I'll be tweaking quite a lot in the coming weeks, but from a feature standpoint, I think it's complete. I want it to stay simple and last for years ahead, and nothing beats simplicity for that.

Another excellent project m15o!

Things I love:

• The level of customization possible.
• Ease of registration (this can't be stated enough)
• Subscriptions via atom vs a follow system.
• Status widget!
• The very clean user experience. No bloat!

Which I realize is basically every single feature of this project LOL, but I'm really liking what I am seeing so far. Looking forward to using it and seeing how others utilize it as well.

Melon, thank you so much for adding a status cafe field in the forum's fields! Also, great find for the hack, you 100% deserve a hacker badge. I also realized it was possible to decline this hack in a few different ways. Thanks to you, the site should be much more secure right now.

Thanks Nightdrift for the feedback! About the ease of registration, I don't know how long I'll be able to keep it open like this. I'm afraid that once some malicious user finds the link, they can decide to infinitely create accounts. It happened to me on ichi.city. I'm not entirely sure what the best way to protect against that is, besides just making it invite-based. Great profile, by the way!

One thing I noticed the other day, its not exactly a bug, but if you try and open the updater while your not logged in it just comes up with a blank page that says "Unauthorized", it would be more helpful if it gave you a login box/link!
