Throughout my entire life? I think, like, four or five. One was a "professional" site that never saw any use because I was still a school kid, one was a content creator site that I stopped using when I felt like giving up content creation, then I had a "new" professional minimalist site that I shut down this year, and Libre Town, which is my magnum opus. If you count the first version of Libre Town and perhaps one or two sites I missed, five.

Plus, like, what counts as a personal site? I have certainly had little blogs and stuff here and there that might or might not qualify.

that's a good question! i think i consider a personal site to be one that isn't a service (blogspot or blogger) or themed layout (tumblr, wordpress.com), but even if it's a blog, one that is self-hosted and coded aesthetically by you. does that make sense?

If we are talking about hand coding. My Neocities website is my first one (started it last year, 2022, in march)

I had an animal crossing website forum thing in 2013. Made with some sort of web/forum builder. It also had a bunch of sites inside the site if that makes sense. But it was primarily WYSIWYG iirc.

And I had a Wix website which I started in 2015. It was my main site before I discovered Neocities. Today it is only an archive and holds A TON of my art.my storage is full due to recent changes on wix's side  however so I can't continue.

Hrrrmmm.... I can't remember any dates specifically but vague time periods...

  • Some kind of Weebly site when I was 11
  • A JoJo's Bizarre Adventure fansite in middle school (which only lived on my hard drive)
  • helianthuspetal.neocities.org (early version of TYOMA.COOL before I bought the domain)
  • The Gorkhon Archives, my Pathologic fansite
  • TYOMA.COOL, my main site!
  • Internet safety website prototype, which I'm debating on whether or not to repurpose for something else

That last one has a design I'm really proud of! Definitely a culmination of all the things I've learned since beginning to get into web design. I just am no good at organization, personal or community-wise, so I'm afraid I might have to scrap it for something else.

I don't really understand if it's personal sites or self-made sites...

I had 1 personal back in the day and 2 now. Actually, now that I think of it, I guess it could've been 1 more personal back in the day but that was totally secret with no one having access to it. Actually now I remember a fifth one too...

But if I need to list all the fansites ahah I couldn't. But it is at least 16. Two of which are on Neocities now. Then there are 3 additional ones I don't really know which category they would go to.

Huh. Let me think.

So, one is clearly my current personal. Then the one I made for my webcomic. I technically also host my gallery separately but I'd count it as a part of my main site anyway.

Way back in the day I had a personal website I can never damn find if it even still exists, but I didn't exactly code it, more like I screwed around with a website builder's presets. Then I also tried to start a fansite for my fav franchise, but I straight up stole the code from another site, so I'm kinda hesitant to count it...

Don't let me started on my attempts to create a dating website specifically for 13-15 year olds (also on a free website builder platform akin to uuuh wordpress I guess) 'cause I was apparently confident that that was the best way to success...

Let me count...

...including 2 neocities accounts (one already removed).
So I have built... 21 websites in total..? Not going into much details as to what each website was, let that stay in the embarrasing past, so we can move into more confident future...

As-of now, I run my personal site (which most of my effort gets put into), two fansites, and an informational site!

I've only built two websites so far, including my current one. My previous blog was updated manually and hosted on GitLab Pages; I deprecated it because I moved away from GitLab, then realized that I didn't like handcrafting my own HTML.

I genuinely don't know how many sites I've made over the years, and I'm sure there's plenty that I've forgotten but let's see which ones I remember...
- Something on pre-Yahoo GeoCities. I genuinely don't remember what it was for, but I remember making it. Probably some really bad fansite. I was like 8, so.
- An Avril Lavigne fansite that started on GeoCities and migrated to Piczo when that came out
- A tAtU fansite with pretty much the same tragectory as the Avril one
- I have vague memories of using Angelfire and Tripod to make sites too, around this same time. Its entirely possible that I just migrated my fan sites from GeoCities to one of those two before they made it to Piczo and eventually died with the site.
- I didn't really have internet access between 2004 and 2006, and it led to me falling off the whole thing for a while in high school
- I got really into roleplaying in 10th grade (right around 2006/2007), and ended up hosting a ton of roleplay forums on a now-defunct site that combined social media with software-as-service forums. These aren't personal sites (though, the profiles on the social media side allowed HTML/CSS so I guess that kind of is?), but they're integral to my web design journey, so I'm mentioning them.
- At the same time as the forums, I fancied myself as some sort of front end dev, and ended up making a handful of "portfolio" sites. They were pitiful. I was terrible at HTML/CSS and didn't know any other coding languages at the time. They were all hosted on Webs.com
- In... I wanna say 2012, I decided I was gonna get serious with my "web design career" and decided to DIY a blog software... In PHP... When I didn't know PHP... The personal site side of it went live, but the blog software died almost instantly. I did learn how to write a PHP include, and kinda get a contact/email form going though, so it wasn't entirely a loss. That was on 000webhost, and the project died when they had a security breach, and I deleted my account.
- I moved to Tumblr for a bit after that for personal sites, but ended up going back to webs.com shortly after, and a handful of different portfolio/personal sites lived and died on there.
- More RP forums persisted, across a few different platforms, and I finally started learning JavaScript. Along with these came more "made and quickly deleted" personal sites.

My current projects have mostly been put on hold and are being worked on very slowly cause summer is convention/cosplay season, but they are:
- An absolute beast of a personal site. I want a proper home for my writing, art/photography, and web design stuff, so I'm using this as a way to host all of that and really push my coding skills. This thing is a literal monster of spaghetti code right now, but it'll get done... Eventually...
- A smaller, simpler resource site. Most of the content will be mirrored from my personal site, but in a neater, more condensed way
- A lightweight JS-based webring to go along with the whole mess. That's the only thing near completion, ironically.

It really depends on what you mean! I first learned of HTML by fiddling with the tags in the text boxes for MySpace profile customization, seeing how it changed things, then going a bit silly with it until I had a really custom page.

I also made .html files on & off over the years, like maybe at an average frequency of one every couple of years? Once, I did it just to remake simple games. I also made 2 pages and linked them together on my local one time, doesn't get much more personal than that!  :dive:   It always had curiosity as its driver, though, and I consider the substance of the pages to be the stuff I was experimenting with. Sure, it had stuff about how my education was going and some plans for the future and some things I was into, but look at this text, it changes colors:ozwomp:

That curiosity drive carries over to my Website of today. The substance is, once again, in the results of experiments that I've been carrying out since I began development almost two months ago. It's technically the first personal site I've ever had live on the Net, but you probably wouldn't think it after you take a gander!  :eyes:

When I was a middle schooler I built a website that was entirely about keeping insects (one of my special interests haha) but never put it up anywhere. Not honestly sure if that counts as a personal website or not, but besides that, the only personal website I've made is my current one.

I'm a baby when it comes to coding, so all I have is my personal & art Neocities sites, made in 2022 & 2023 respectfully. I stuck exclusively to social media/watching YouTube before then.

My current neocities site is created using frontpage express using my spare laptop when i was at my parents house to look after their dogs. It is exclusivley made out of text, and basic html.

Back in the day i had some proposals fornwebsites, but i didnt had the knowledge of programming such sites. And i had absolutley 0.0 budget, so hosting was not an option yet. Geocities did exist, but didnt know about it yet.

Anyways, i hope to give my website a overhaul in the foreseeable future.
