every now and then i have the beatles playing in my earbuds at full volume and my dad overhears it
he gets really mad and tells me the beatles suck WHAT DO I DO?!

I used to be a total Beatles child. For some reason I thought I'd seem more sophisticated and intelligent than "other people my age" if I didn't listen to pop but to "the classics." It fit in with my entire childhood, really.

Oooh, I can be friends with your dad! no, but I try to appreciate them now, as they're legendary and have been the inspirations for so many of my favorite bands/musicians

This isn't an answer, but I have a granddad who hates The Beatles for a dumb reason. Him and his friends went to a concert that The Beatles held in Kansas City, which was on one of their only two tours in the US, with the sole intention of picking up chicks at the concert. He was amazed to discover that all of the girls in the audience were only interested in The Beatles, and got mad about him and his friends getting pushed aside by everyone who tried to get closer to the stage.
He isn't just annoyed by The Beatles or anything, he legitimately hates them because of that event. He'll switch from the oldies station to anything else if they start playing on the radio.
