Soooo, yeah. Mine's a bit complicated. Click to embiggen:By way of explanation:- I run multiple monitors (too many monitors?). Many are on switches so I can change which computer they're connected to at any given time.
- I also run multiple computers; I chop and change, but right now I've got Rebel (i7 running Windows), Mora (M4 running MacOS), Foo (M4 running MacOS, belongs to work) and Pia (i5 running Debian Linux) running my desktops; Fox (Xeon running Slackware Linux) is also running but isn't connected to a monitor right now (unless I press a button under my desk to change that)
- They're all connected into a single "super-desktop" using Deskflow (which I switched to from Barrier, which I switched to from Synergy); I've got one keyboard and mouse that's connected to them all and I just move my cursor to the side of one screen and into the next.
- I've also got a mini keyboard I've built to act as a control panel spanning them all, so I can simultaneously lock them all when I step away from my desk (also: so I can "teleport" my mouse cursor to a particular computer/monitor if I "lose" it, which happens more often than I'd like to admit)
- As for my desktops themselves: I keep them pretty minimalist - just a basic wallpaper: my thinking is that if I can see the wallpaper, I'm not really "using" the computer in the first place! Similarly, I've never found a "desktop" a good place to keep icons, so my desktops are usually pretty clear.
I don't know if the above is really interesting (because a "desktop" for me is a bit different than it is for most people) or really boring (because I've put literally no thought into my wallpaper, don't have any icons, etc.)! You tell me!

This is my current desktop: I really want to return to a win98 design, though. Up until about 2015, when I had to update, I was using Windows XP, but with the classic design option. When I switched to Windows 10 I decided to "embrace the future", stylewise, but I never really felt at home. Recently, I found this reddit post, so I'll probably try and use that guide to return to the old design.

i present to thee, my genuine windows 7 setup! yes, i actually "downgraded" my computer. yes, it still works, and i'm actually having a lot of fun with it. it's here for all my indie web, RSS, CD-burning and retro gaming needs. unfortunately, i don't think the desktop gadgets work anymore
