What are some of your favourite music videos?

I always think of "South Side" by Moby and Gwen Stefani. It's a great lampooning of '90s celebrity culture and vanity.

Oh, and I almost forgot "Twisted Transistor" by Korn. When I first saw it I was young and really naive, had never seen what the band members looked like and was totally clueless about rap, so I totally missed the joke and thought those were the actual band members. I can now thankfully say I know who Snoop Dogg is.

I guess the trend is I like music videos where the artists make fun of themselves :grin:

Praise You by Fatboy Slim - This is just the most incredible piece of counter culture; it was unstaged; the audience/staff had no idea they were in a music video.

The Sweater Song by Weezer - Another 90s classic; this ones a slow burner and kinda subtle, but it just sorta takes the piss out of music videos; its so low effort yet it pulls off so much! (I have no idea how they did that opening shot)

I love this song but never knew the story behind the music video. That's a cool bit of history.

The Sweater Song by Weezer

I've never been a Weezer fan, but you reminded me of "Sweater" by Willow. The whole music video is projected on a screen around the singer and is really cool.

It looks like the walls and camera are moving while anything on the floor is staying in place, or maybe a sliding surface on the floor being dragged around? The way he has to keep his feet moving to stay in one place makes me think it's one of those. Either way the walls definitely look detached from the floor.

On that note, does anyone else confuse Jamiroquai with Jordy Birch? They don't look or sound alike but their names are just similar enough that I always mix them up.

I love me some nerdcore, and these two videos by The Stupendium, for Five Nights At Freddy's Security Breach and Poppy's Playtime respectively, are so fun. Major earworms too!

:evil: YOU HAVE ACTIVATED ONE OF MY NICHE INTERESTS :evil:

I absolutely adore animated music videos. I think animation, as an artistic medium, is at its greatest when it can convey something as intangible as music. I only know a handful of them, but they are so near and dear to me and I'm always hungry to watch more!

For now, I'll give you three - two by my man, Gigi D'Agostino

And Big Time, by Peter Gabriel - which is also the first time I witnessed strata-cut animation!

I will list a few classics that a lot of people probably already know...

* a-ha - Take On Me

I will always love the animation in this.

*Blind Melon - No Rain

This is a great song with a happy little video from a band that is underappreciated in my opinion.

* Beastie Boys - Sabotage [Caution: Explicit lyrics]

I still get a good laugh from it. Cop shows haven't changed much have they?

* Björk - Human Behavior

It was either this or Jóga for me, but both are directed by Michel Gondry anyway (same director of one of my favorite movies, Eternal Sunshine).

* The Smashing Pumpkins - Tonight, Tonight

Beautifully done! It is based off of the Georges Méliès film, Le Voyage dans la Lune.

* Radiohead - There, There

It seems like a friendly forest with magical little creatures...until it isn't.

* The White Stripes - Fell In Love With A Girl

It was the first Lego animation that I saw, and the forerunner to things like Rymdreglage's 8-Bit Trip.

Ok, now for a few that are probably less well known...

* Kate Bush - Cloudbusting

Someday people will understand Wilhelm Reich...someday...

* Golden Shower - Video Computer System [Caution: Flashing lights]

Crude name, cool video. It makes me think of demoscene.

* The Dresden Dolls - Girl Anachronism

Lots of fun! I remember when this one came out...I just wish the video was higher quality.

* Ugly Duckling - A Little Samba

This whole video is like a really terrible dad joke. I love it...But again, I wish it was higher quality.

A lot of J-Pop songs have excellent music videos (e.g.: Utada Hikaru's "Traveling", pretty much anything by Kyary Pamyu Pamyu, Perfume's "Mirai no Museum", and so on). I have already put a lot though.

Cool selections everyone!

A classic for me! I really wish I got the chance to see Wax Fang in concert when they were performing. Their music is just amazing.

I have debated to hell and back in which subforum to post this, but I'm guessing this is the place

Anyway, has anyone seen the new music video from Jonathan Young and Volta? It's styled as a 'Love letter to old anime on 4k' and I am. Mildly obsessed.
