Fragrance Point is a surreal exploration platformer with a LOT of secrets. You play as a little heart shaped creature who controls a robot to move around. You were sent to explore the space station
Fragrance Point. Talk to people and help them out, traverse the station, solve puzzles, unlock new abilities and use them interact with everything and everyone on the station!
I would describe the controls as slightly slippery tank controls? Movement takes a bit to get used to as controls are directional to the way the player character is facing rather than the way the camera is facing, but it controls very smoothly. There isn't any precision platforming required either - it's all about exploration!
Navigation isn't too bad, and the layout of things is actually rather intuitive. The game isn't nearly as disorienting as you would think based on screenshots. I never got lost, and progression spots are usually well indicated.
The MAIN reasons I am trying to spread the word about this game:
- It released January of this year, as an EXTREMELY indie game (only 79 reviews at the time of writing this) hardly anyone knows about it.
- Aesthetically I think it rules, and I think the artistic choices align with a lot of melonland residents' interests.
- THERE IS NO 100% COMPLETION GUIDE and at least 3 achievements have a completion rate of 0.05% or less
There's already a small speedrunning community (small as in 3 people) and there are guides to get both endings if this has piqued your interest! This game is only $8 USD, and my first playthrough was a little under 5 hours.
The
soundtrack is also available for streaming on youtube and bandcamp, and available for purchase on bandcamp and steam. I really love the soundtrack- it's a mix of experimental electronic/industrial club tracks that I would say are similar to SOPHIE's works, as well as some more typical "video game-y" overworld tracks. It actually gave me more appreciation for the genres and I find myself going back to the OST a lot.
I really think this game is a little gem, and I'd love to see it get more appreciation. The art direction is stunning and unlike anything I've seen in indie games, the OST is incredible, and there's so much hidden DEPTH to it that I want to see the community get to the bottom of! If I can get even one person to play this game because of me, I'll be overjoyed

If you pick it up, I'd recommend turning down the camera sensitivity, as the default is a little too high and made me sick lol
If anyone plays it and has thoughts or questions, I'd love to hear them!

*smiles at you so sweetly*
