Very true, if you can write shorthand you might retain the information while writing but also be able to store the notes electronically for later search and retrieval.
Personally, I don't find CherryTree to be any more difficult to use then some of the other big note-taking apps out there such as Obsidian, OneNote, etc. The main downside to CherryTree is that it doesn't use Markdown and there's no mobile app. I mainly use it because I like the unlimited hierarchical notes and everything (including attachments) is stored in a single file that you can easily move around and backup.
