Hey all!! Is anybody else here into Mewgenics?!!
For anybody who doesn't know, it's the new game by Edmund McMillen and Tyler Glaiel. You probably know Edmund from Super Meat Boy, The Binding of Isaac, and The End is Nigh (which is better than Meat Boy, fight me!!).
It was first teased over 12 years ago as a much smaller-scale cat breeding game but around 6 years development started again and it turned into a cat breeding game where you also send those cats on crazy tactical adventures! I've only been following the re-development for the past 2 years or so, but ever since it came out a week or so ago I've been completely obsessed.
Same feeling as Silksong - being super excited and trying to temper your expectations then it blows past what you were trying to temper in the first place.
The emergent gameplay and interacting systems are great examples of my favorite aspects of video games. I just had a run where one of my cats spawned a lot of familiars, another one buffed and gave those familiars extra turns, and a third cat basically acted as a mana battery for the rest of them. It's a very creatively fulfilling game if that makes sense.
I noticed after another run a synergy I missed, I could have used one unit's multi-shot ranged attack on my ranger to give him a bank of much stronger basic attacks. I won anyways, but it's just so fun seeing the many many ways you can get systems to interact to your benefit (or ruin your run in some rube-goldberg-esque fashion lol)
Anyways!! What do you guys think ab it so far? What are y'alls favorite bosses and music tracks? My favorite for both is probably the final boss of Act 1. iykyk :p
