I'd say the best thing I've ever bought would either be this really cool choker with blood drop-shaped red beads, my skeleton sweater, my Nintendo switch, or my gothic bunny plush.

Here's my bnuuy if you're curious~

my computer!

i've wanted to build a computer for many years and while i do wish i had done things a little differently (like choose different parts initially), i love it! i never thought i could do it and i'm so glad i did. even if i do decide to build a new one or completely upgrade everything, i'll always cherish the memories i had doing the thing i dreamed of since i was a teenager.

i built this at the end of 2018 and i've only done a couple upgrades to storage and ram plus a second monitor.

Solid tie between a quilt my nana made for me and a rainbow blanket my mother knit for me. I have trouble sleeping and one of the things I need in order to fall asleep is weight, and both blankets provide the perfect amount (especially when they're stacked on each other!). And both are such labors of love!! It takes a lot of time and materials to make both kinds of blankets and the fact that they were made specifically for me makes my heart all warm and fuzzy! When I'm wrapped up in either it's like I'm getting a big 'ole hug from my mom and nana <3

I's not sure what would be the best thing I bought tbh! Maybe my bento box? It reminds me to prepare and pack a lunch for work :^D

parts to build my current pc.

i had long been using gaming laptops as it was more "portable" solution but these laptops tend to be built rather poorly, and lack the performance their price point often is supposed to have. it actually took my friends convincing me via peer pressure (which i am still grateful for) to just build a pc with the same funds, rather than invest in another laptop when i had one failing at the time, and ever since i've been genuinely happier.

my laptops constant issues were a source of stress. they would always have a good 6 months and then years of terror, full of crashes, freezing and even in one case a total corruption of my hard drive, which taught me a very unfortunate lesson about backing up my work. while i recognize that my laptops never behaving is almost a trivial matter in comparison to more serious things, as someone who spends a lot of time on the computer it really did bring my QOL down! the portability never truly mattered in the end as i realized my gaming laptops were often hooked up to so many dongles to be usable that they weren't really portable anyways, not to mention that the battery would last about 50-100 minutes on most of them. furthermore, these laptops problems often prevented me from creating the art and projects that i wanted to do with it, which was just a total bummer as a creative person.

building the pc was admittedly super overwhelming but i had friends to guide me through the process, and ever since it first booted there has really been no issues. it's been about 2 years now, and it almost feels strange that my pc works just as well as when i first put it together... i'm almost superstitious about it, i think those laptops did a number on me, haha.

This is a really fun question! It actually inspired me to make a post for my website answering this question in more detail. The short answer is that there are two real contenders. One is the laptop I was gifted as a teen, as it enabled me to explore many computer-related hobbies and arguably become proficient in tech in a way that serves me to this day. The other is an anime magazine I bought in 2011, which later introduced me to CANAAN, an anime that means the world to me.

It's funny how, upon trying to answer this question, my mind first went through the options that gave me a lot of material benefits (mainly technology). But honestly, that one singular magazine purchase ultimately shaped a lot of who I am today. That is a value I cannot put into words or amounts.

my razer hello kitty headphones  i've had this exact one since early 2022, both the bow and left ear broke off,  the right ear's cover tore off and the inner fabric had to be replaced with a different pattern. but i still refuse to let go of my headphones, i've worn them everyday for 2 school years straight and i am going for a third year!!

The raspberry pi first gen I got as a kid. It absolutely shaped how I saw computers and got me interested in coding and stuff.

Rubik's cube!
I've been carrying it with me everywhere for years now, and I got so much play out of it for how cheap it was (i think I spent 10 euros on mine). It's a great way to destress or pass time when you're out ^_^ def the biggest 'comfort object' of mine.
(And learning to solve it is not as hard as many people think! It's actually quite accessible)

last year on a particularly overwhelming day, i bought a jellycat whale named "wally whale". he was expensive (~$50 cad?) but so very worth it.

mine is darker than this photo, he's more of an actual "whale" colour. his fur is wonderfully fluffy, he's incredibly fun to squish, the tail is floppy enough for him to wag his tail when shaken, and the front portion (around and in front of his pectoral fins) is weighted with little plastic pellets. this part is really fun to squish and makes him even better for shaking. he's also the perfect size for cuddling.
i have a nice handful of jellycats now, but wally remains my favourite. he's unmatched! i've shaken him a few times while writing this. he enjoys it  :4u:

for me, i think it's my HP Elitebook 820 G1.

it's been in existence since ~2013 and my mum got it for me when i was 12 (in 2020) and it's outlasted every single one of my gaming laptops, desktops, phones, most TVs, and honestly it's like a cockroach lmao
i've been a little rough with it (though not anymore lol), i've had several viruses and stuff from me being dumb (a long time ago now), and soo many reinstalls of Windows and so many Linux distro installs too.

honestly i feel really proud of it for some reason. it's old, and it's still kicking like it's brand new.
i have some nostalgia for it too, but it's literally what i'm using right now to type this on lmao

The best thing in an objective sense is probably my PC because it got me back into being creative and making 3D games, which I couldn't do on my old laptop.

My favourite in a more vibey sense is my bike, I have a great time riding around on it and I can just admire it sitting in the corner, it brings me great joy.

As an oddity, I bought a Morakniv knife. They're not very expensive, but they're well made. I think at the time I had some fantasy about taking up whittling or bushcraft, which never manifested. It's a very nice object though and I appreciate owning it for whatever reason.

I appear to have given three answers to what was a quite straightforward question, oh well!

I think I'd have to say my Elgato Capture Device.  I got that thing back in maybe 2014 for the purpose of making YouTube videos and that has lead to one of the most fulfilling creative endeavors I've been going on.  But it's also come in handy for doing weird art projects and archiving old VHS tapes I have laying around.  It's something that I honestly can't imagine where I'd be right now if I didn't buy it, and I don't even have a large YouTube career or anything.  It's just been a tool that's gone a long way in making me want to make things.  It's getting up there in age but it hasn't broken, yet.  But thankfully it seems like the kind of the thing that is fixable!  Knock on wood!
