Honestly.. I think if neocities went offline the spiritual heart of the web revival would evaporate.. its actualy a little worrying that so many great sites and the community that connects them all is so tied to a single site and the mysterious owner Kyle who none of us actually know much about :ziped:

This! Currently, I am hosting my website on Nekoweb. I think it's really, really important that there are multiple hosting services that people are using in case one of them runs into trouble at some point.

I think for me, the worst change would be if you couldn't use the explore feature on Neocities or Nekoweb. That's because right now, I can't use it! When I'm working on my school computer, I just avoid that section of the site because my school only blocked Neocities after I started using the explore feature to go through sites. It's a silly quality of life thing, but I honestly really miss it. It's really fun to just go and see who just updated their site.

I'm gonna subvert this too, and say one thing that I think would be really awesome! I think I would really enjoy it if I saw more forums for stuff I like. It's nice to find places on discord, but I wish I saw more places on the internet I could just surf into and lurk! The fact it'd be way less likely to be blocked on my school's computers definitely helps...

Browsing the web now has an forcefully automated infinite scroll based on an an AI estimated time to read the homepage. Imagine all the problems when browsing a website, as well as the sensory overload from the constantly chasing colors.

So many suggestions here already sounds painful, but I'd like to add an addition, based of something I have experienced.

One of the things I really enjoy in the indie web is receiving comments and feedback in my website, it is very nice to know people do read my things and enjoy them.

So imagine, you receive a comment in your website, and you happily reads it, thinking it is from another web surfer. But instead of a heartfelt comment, you see words that feels... kinda robotic. And when you checked out their website, it's a website of a corporation, except the website is definitely not real, and probably made by genAI. What's worse is that these comments doesn't stop, every single comment you receive in the future are made by robots, not humans...

Yea I would be devastated, receiving notifs made by bots in social media is annoying enough, please keep them away from my Neocities
