I really wanna get into zine-making but I have recently moved countries and don't have a lot of physical materials to make them with. That's why I want to use digitally archived magazines and whatever else I can find to craft them. I feel like that's a good way of preserving the handmade, DIY, feeling of physical zines, while using digital tools.

The zine I'm trying to create is about all the "girl-orianted" media I used to watch and read as a queer kid and how it helped me navigate life in a homophobic environment by teaching me that my femininity is a positive thing. That's why I want to use the magazines from the 2000s such as the Barbie, Winx Club or Hannah Montana magazines to make cut-outs or background textures from.

The problem is that these are not well-archived in any language. I know the first seven volumes of the Hannah Montana magazine are available on archive.org but the rest are nearly impossible to find. Do you know where I could find them or other printed media related to these shows from the 2000s?

Hello! This answer might not quite be what you're looking for, but if you want girly magazines, I own a few issues of Unicorn Universe, a "girly" magazine from the UK that includes crafts, recipes, activities, stories and everything cutesy and colorful and glittery.

You can check the magazine on their official Instagram to get a feel for it.

It's a magazine being released in the 2020's (and currently) instead of the 2000's, but it overall gives me that 2000's feel you're looking for. If you want to be chronologically accurate, I'll understand; however, if you're interested, I'll be happy to scan pages for you  :dog:

Hi there! Thank you so much for the offer but I'd rather stick to retro magazines as it's more accurate, but also I believe it's okay to share them because they're older. I don't know if sharing scans of current magazines is allowed. I could be wrong but I think it's safer not to. But thank you, once again.

I don't have any good suggestions besides going down an archive dot org rabbithole, but can I say this is just plain awesome of a concept? I love this. This is great, and really resonates with me, and I think a lot of people will feel the same. I would love to see this when you're finished!

I'm kind of lowkey looking for similar media myself for some projects so if I find anything I will for sure post it here.

I go down those rabbit holes A LOT XD I love digging through old archived websites, magazines, and other media on there. I'm hoping to stumble upon a magazine that has done some Barbie, Bratz, and other articles at least.

Thank you!!! I'll probably post about the zine here. Idk if there's a follow option or something similar on the forum as I'm pretty new, but if there is, feel free to do that :3
