yea, it's happened a bit in the past.

i remember it especially with LittleBigPlanet and Skylanders when i was little, and later some of the Sonic games, the Pokemon games, and now it's Touhou, Taiko no Tatsujin, and Project DIVA.

not all games i've played but usually once i get into one, it's nearly impossible for me to let go lmao

I've binged Burn Notice at least 4 times, I've binge watched every anime I've seen to completion, the mass effect trilogy... unfortunately, most other game series I ADHD out of too quickly to binge them.

I played most of the 2D Metorid games available at the time in 2016-2017. This includes AM2R (as a replacement of Metroid 2) and excludes Super Metroid (couldn't get it to work on emulator). I finally got to play Super Metroid in 2020, and of course Metroid Dread released in 2021 which I played upon release. Once you get into the flow of these games they are simply incredible.

My plan was to continue the binge with the 3D games, but the GameCube version of Prime gave me motion sickness. When the Prime remaster released for the Switch, I played through most of it but it took a ton of effort and frustration. The game simply doesn't flow as well in 3D. In particular, the type of backtracking exploration that makes 2D Metroid so special is extremely tedious and unintuitive in the 3D games. I decided to just stick to the 2D games instead.

I replay the Bioshock series every few years.  Not too long, good gameplay, lots of interesting story beats.

I blazed through the entire mainline Ace Attorney series (+ vs layton) in about a week, and it was funny seeing how fast the game goes downhill after the third one (just kidding, i actually kinda like the apollo trilogy despite the jank)

Not the *entire* series in one go, since that'd be an incredible undertaking, but that's sort of how I play the Kingdom Hearts series and I kinda like absorbing that series that way. After briefly trying the series a few times throughout my life (including playing most of Chain of Memories at one point, which remains my favorite in the series) I finally locked in around early 2023, first playing KH1 and deciding to pursue the entire series once KH1 had lodged its hooks into me LOL.
I had a lot of fun with Kingdom Hearts, they're very cute action-RPGs and I got a lot of enjoyment out of its uniquely long-lasting and increasingly complex story. I have as of now done two major blitzes of the series as of now, first going thru the original Kingdom Hearts until I stopped in the middle of Birth by Sleep, and then in late 2024 or 2025 I played thru Birth by Sleep and ended up losing steam in the middle of Kingdom Hearts 3. It may not sound impressive that my KH binges are averaging about 4 completed games per session, but they are all long, fully featured action-RPGs! I have to take a year or so to detox but when I'm in the Kingdom Hearts mood I eat those games up like nobody's business

Oh yeah, for sure. I've done marathons of the Batman: Arkham series and every March I immerse myself in everything Metroid. Though since Prime 4 is on the horizon I'm planning on getting in a quick flight through the Prime Trilogy before it launches. Gotta be prepared and all.
