I think i'd like to expand this to 'dream CDs' and 'dream tapes' or even 'dream equipment', bud i'd like to stick to the music formats rather than the stuff made to play it.
Out of any record, tape, or CD released, I would love to have like, one of those hardcore dance music tapes or records they made 30 years ago, they usually have pretty kickass music and they often have blank labels on them making them very intriguing, especially when the song is a bop to rock to.
When it comes to specifically tapes, i'd like to have a Public Enemy or maybe an LL cool j tape because I think that older rap is even cooler when it's on a tape deck
and I'm honestly not sure what I'd get for CDs because i like records and tapes more than CDs.

i'd really like to get the minecraft OST or the over the garden wall OST on vinyl-- unfortunately i'm pretty sure they're not in print anymore.

i know the over the garden wall OST was reprinted a year or so ago, but it was some sort of anniversary thing, i think? i didn't get the chance to buy it then and i seriously regret it  :tnt:

a last dream vinyl of mine would probably be a lot of the homestuck soundtrack, but there's no official homestuck vinyls. i think they're working on making some soon though

auggghh thats so sad :( there's so many gorgeous video game soundtracks that have like... limited vinyl printings that i would love to have but just don't have the funds for. the night in the woods vinyl has resold for minimum 70ish dollars on discogs, i think?

and also OMGG the homestuck ost would be AWESOME on vinyl!! id love to have a vinyl version of vol. 5 or midnight crew: drawing dead!!

yeah!!! i think james roach is working on making a 'best of' or something like that for homestuck vinyls? it was talked about in a news post on the beyond canon website, which is honestly the main reason i check in on that site.

My dream CD collection would be all of Deftones, PearlJam, Nirvana, SoundGarden, and bands like The Gazette, Dir en Grey, and 9GoatsBlackout stuff. Problem is all that stuff is expensive, and I'm currently on a manga/comic collecting kick. Sad I know, but EVENTUALLY I will collect cds I want.

There was a picture disc variant of the first print of Lisa The Painful OST vinyl, I think they're really cool. I only got the swirl version of the print at the time because I heard picture discs weren't as good in sound quality. I kinda regret it since I don't really listen to vinyl anymore, I just like having them on the shelf.

I really enjoy the band Ween, and their records have inflated to ridiculous prices over the years! You'd be hard pressed to find the average LP of theirs for under $200. My favourite album that they have released, The Mollusk, has been out of print for quite a while. The only copies you'd find online are the Plain Recordings reissues, which I've heard sound pretty subpar (still over $200). And good luck trying to find an original 1997 copy, I'm not sure where you would even have to go for that...

So, my dream vinyl record would probably have to be a good quality original copy of The Mollusk. It is a pretty amazing listen. Did you know that The Mollusk largely inspired Stephen Hillenburg's creation of SpongeBob SquarePants? In fact, it was the origin of the song Ocean Man, which would go on to be popularized by its use in the SpongeBob movie.  :omg:

Ween has been re-issuing some of their records recently, most notably a 30th anniversary deluxe edition of 1994's Chocolate and Cheese, which I happen to own. Although they did skip over an album or two, and the order they are doing it in is a bit confusing, I hope and pray to Boognish that The Mollusk will finally get the treatment it deserves when its 30th rolls around.

Also, as mentioned by @tertiaryapocalypse - Homestuck soundtrack LPs would be pretty awesome! :transport:

Fleetwood Mac's "Go Your Own Way"/"Silver Springs" vinyl single. I don't collect singles, generally speaking, but this one is an exception. The idea of a record that consists of two breakup songs written and sung by the two people involved in the breakup is really amusing to me. I just googled it, and these aren't even expensive, so it's not an unrealistic goal, but I'm just not in a place to be buying vinyl right now. I also just want the Rumors album in general, though it doesn't have "Silver Springs."

Once More With Feeling (the musical episode of the show Buffy the Vampire Slayer) is also a dream vinyl purchase; the vinyl has incredibly different cover art than the cd/streaming version and would be such a cool piece of nerd media to have. My one complaint with it is that the main theme is put as the last track instead of the first, which I can correct on digital playlists but not on vinyl. Unfortunately the vinyl is incredibly expensive; the CD is cheap and I'll probably have to settle. I don't have money for cheap vinyl right now, let alone something I'd have to cough up nearly a thousand dollars for.
