duck duck go needs to support exact quotes in queries, i find myself constantly using google for that

No modern search engine respects exact quotes anymore, including Google, because they keep thinking I actually mean something else. It's infuriating to be overridden in something like that.

I used to use DuckDuckGo until I heard they have secret deals with Microsoft and Google, and Startpage until I heard they were owned by an advertising company.

Now I use Disroot's SearX instance. It does the job 99% of the time. I have to use DDG or Google for that 1%, though...

i tend to use a variety of search engines since i've tried out some on some computers and just got too lazy to change them back to all the same one :ok: i use duckduckgo and ecosia, and i just started out with using startpage. in terms of result quality it's something i often overlook so all of these search engines work fine for me. a metasearch engine might be helpful for me in the future if i'm going to be doing actual research, though :dog:
