I am curious about things that make people feel welcome! It can be a thing on a website, in your home, where you work, the city, country or planet that you live in.

Often people can feel unwelcome or disconnected from life around them, I think this is particularly true for people who are not native to a place or think differently from the average citizen. I don't believe that feeling welcome is an official human right, but maybe it ought to be someday!

What are some things that have made you feel welcome recently?  :4u:

Plushies, fun things to do there, people not being angry or passive aggressive, hugs, and maybe cute cats.

The color pink, soft aesthetics, a clear mission statement valuing diversity, a way to leave a message saying "I was here"

It's a very simple gesture but when people do a little wave when they say hi!!

And recently an acquaintance showed me some art because the colors reminded them of me (they were earthy tones which I do really love!)

Honestly, growing up in an Eastern European family, whenever I go to someone's house and it's got a lot of vintage knick-knacks everywhere, old couches that never had the plastic wrap taken off and is generally very clean, I feel really welcome.

low lighting and music. I'm light sensitive for both sensory overload reasons and migraine reasons, so I feel a lot more comfortable in spaces with low lighting, like a small lamp or some atmospheric lights for a party or concert that still keep the overall light level dim, than anywhere with overhead lighting.
