Hello, Melonland!
Nice to finally join. I'm just a random dude who's recently gotten into the indieweb stuff and I gotta say I love this forum! It's got a really nice and cozy vibe.
I enjoy tinkering with old tech, both hardware and software. And I've been getting into photography, both analog and digital; unfortunately since I am prepping for my college entry exam I haven't been able enjoy either of those that much, but it counts!

Looking forward to chatting around with y'all. Ciao!

Welcome to the forum!!! :ha: :ha:

What's your favorite piece of old hardware? I'm not super into tinkering with old hardware but I do like adding cool looking things to my collection.

Thank you! And that's a though question. I'd probably go with old laptops. Thinkpads, Librettos.. Just that old, chunky design that engineers tried so so hard to squeeze down as much as they could.
I love it to bits for no apparent reason whatsoever  :pc:

Hello and welcome to the MelonLand Forum ! Glad to see a hardware tinkerer, it's quite neat ! I wish I wasn't a butterfingers person because I would have loved doing this ! I'm utterly fascinated by Polaroid cameras, the idea that it can capture an instant and print it immediately is really out of this world I'm used to phone/digital cameras but basic ones with film, I think it's some kind of magic, being able to capture something through a lense onto film.

Thanks! And yep, that is exactly why I love analog photography. With digital, the photos don't hold that much weight and you can take pretty much an infinite amount. Out of focus? Just take another. Framing off? Have another go. But with film, due to your limited amount of exposures, you try to make sure everything about your shot is perfect, no mistakes, perfect framing etc.. And finally pressing the shutter release after all that feels very rewarding and special. Even if the photo doesn't end up good in the end (mine usually dont, whoops) it feels magical and makes me love the process of shooting film more than the end result.
