I know there's a post about the different graphics the Old Web had (just checked it out, really good resource!), but I still wanted to know about buttons, specifically.

I did notice that certain buttons from other sites had different dimensions, like 88x31 (the standard link button), 176x31 (a longer version of it), and 135x31 or 135x27 (I saw these on a Japanese site). I'm wanting to add some other button dimensions to my site, but I want to know if it's worth it to make these other sizes lol  :ok:

What do you peeps think?

I personally just stick to 88x31, but it'd be a fun exercise to try different dimensions. I know some folks around the web who create 32x32 and similar 1:1 ratio buttons, which fits really interestingly as a matrix. if you decide to try some new buttons, I'd be really curious to see how it goes!

Personally, I prefer 88x31 so all the buttons are the same size (not to be a conformist but I like when things fit together nicely like that!) but I've seen 100x35, especially on fanlistings! And square 35x35 as well--actually, fanlistings don't tend to have 88x31 options at all!

The first different one that comes to mind is a 90x45 button, but the only one that I can think of is the one VideoGameSprites uses

They also host 94x56 buttons on there, but I think both are that size to showcase the sprites.

I know there's other 1:1 and 1:2 button sizes, like the interest stamps.

I've noticed that as well!! I similarly use exclusively 88x31s on my site- at least at the moment. All of the buttons I've made and plan to are 88x31, so when I download buttons I want them to be the same size as well. Currently they all reside in a sidebar element and stack very nicely, so I was disappointed to discover a fanlisting for tigers with the very close but still upsettingly different 100x35s, which would *just* stick out alongside the rest of my buttons and create a small gap in my button wall (gasp) . That same fanlisting also featured 75x50 buttons, a size I've never seen before, but to be fair they had some very cute tigers in that size.

Admittedly my frame of reference is small (I just don't see a lot of fanlistings linked on random personal sites, at least the ones hosted on neocities) but I've yet to run into a fanlisting that features 88x31 button... I wonder why?

Yeah, I honestly don't see fanlistings that much at all, and it seems like the fanlisting community is its own community almost totally separated from the larger Web revival community, at least in my experience---maybe that's why our 88x31-mania hasn't transferred over there? That's all I can think of.

I use three sizes !

"Blinkies" that are all set to 150x20, "Buttons" that are 88x31 and "Stamps" that are 99x56. I know that some of these are a bit twisted where I collected them, like a 155x21 blinkie or a 100x57 stamp but I used html to make them fit to the same ratio. I enjoy seeing lines of perfectly aligned blinkies, buttons and stamps !

I wonder if there's another basic template that is well known beside these three ! I haven't seen blinkies and stuff like this after the web moved to 2.0 and I only see it in NekoWeb / NeoCities websites nowadays. Wish it was more common/current.

My favorites are the animated ones, there's some wonders !
