hey! my names echo/percy! ive been around indie web for a lil bit, but more so on spacehey than anything. but i thought maybe i would wanna learn more html than just img src and make super cool websites!! and also... im sick of modern social media!! with AI garbage and big corporations i just wanna be in a more tight knit community i guess!
im a bit on the younger side so thats prolly a bit weird for someone my age who never experienced myspace, forums, tumblr, or anything else like that in its hayday.
(i did used to watch comic dubs on youtube that were probably off tumblr if that even counts) anyways
im a trans guy from australia whos very very nerdy and very very gay
im into a
lot of things, like so many i can barely even keep track. but the one thing that stays overall is probably nastolgia? and horror too. ive been absolutely obsessed with the idea of nastolgia for a while now, despite still being a kid. its probably becuase my childhood ended at the age of 9 for.... reasons..
but basically for my childhood internet wise i was just on youtube and roblox all the time. ive been on roblox since i was FIVE! i dont really play anymore but when i did i was playin all sorta of stuff like obbies, the normal elevator,epic minigames, robloxian high school, royale high (i was obsessed with highschool games), survive the killers at area 51... dunno why i played that but whatever. and on youtube i basically only watched DanTDM and undertale related videos for like 5 years.
SPEAKING OF WHICH!! undertale and deltarune are my favourite pieces of media, ever. its scary to think im probably gonna be an adult when deltarune finishes lol. even wilder to think ive literally grown up with undertale and deltarune
but to keep it short: i know nearly everything that can be known about undertale, deltarune and their creator Toby Fox. my genuine biggest idol EVER!!!!! im tryna follow in his footsteps... sorta. basically anything hes said hes liked/worked on ive tried getting into or figuring out what it is. Toby worked on Homestuck? welp, time to go read the entire thing! he likes this game called yume nikki? well now i know everything about it and i also have a madotsuki plushie. he loves earthbound? time to get earthbound and mother 3 on my 3ds! he worked on YIIK? uh... okay im not getting into that ...
(fun fact: toby posted on his twitter that he made a song for yiik when it came out and then IMMEDIATELY deleted it when he saw how much backlash the game was getting XD poor guy, the song was great lol)and yea, im also a HUGE indie rpg nerd. yume nikki, oneshot, omori. oh my word i was OBSESSEDD with omori for years. its still one of my favourite games of all time. and it got me into one of my other interests... psychology!
well more or less the horrific side of psychology im very interested in. and becuase of omori i became extremely infatuated by the idea of mental disorders and trauma. i dont wanna sound like im romantising btw, im pretty sure i have c-ptsd or will develop c-ptsd (confirmed by therapists)
but in turn, i created my own psychological horror story. still a work in progress and was very much just an omori rip off when i first made it but now its developed into its own very important thing! i wanna potienally make my neocites website about my story, Neophobia. but im soooo bad at html it aint happening for a while
but how i got into indie web is a bit of a weird long story. so, i came across this youtuber like 3-4 years ago named izzzyzzz. she makes a BUNCH of internet culture type videos. stuff from tumblr aesthetics, deep dives into fandoms like animal jam (loved that game when i was a kid btw) and mlp. i binged a bunch of her videos about disaster conventions, and everything else. then over the years i would watch more videos about old internet culture. i started using tumblr and spacehey! and then i found my parents ipod, and i started getting interested into older technology. and as my very unfortune servere fear of time and the future became more prevelent i got REALLY interested in older stuff. i started getting into a bunch of things that were older, i guess. i became super interested in older computer systems, games, even media! the biggest one being lemon demon and newgrounds era videos. i also got big into jerma and then in turn got interested in TF2 and then i got portal 1 and 2 and OHhghhh.... man.. i always knew what tf2 and portal was cuz its literally IMPOSSIBLE to avoid them if youre on the internet but wow i fuckin love these games man
but i didnt realise this until a while ago but... i have unknowingly grown up with lemon demon! like, the first video i EVER watched online was harry potter puppet plays, one of the first roblox games i played used ultimate showdown of ultimate destiny, his music was used in gravity falls, i heard touch tone telephone when i first got into animation memes, ive definately heard brodyquest and everybody likes you without knowing who he is. i was SHOOK by how his guys been like... my internet guardian angel and i didnt even know lol! but anyway hes now my second biggest idol ever and i love spirit phone hshhshhsjsii
but back to indie web stuff and older things. first of all, i got mega into frutiger aero/metro. second of all im an avid pirate but i somehow found out about 3ds modding and i was in love. i begged my parents for a 3ds and got one! the 3ds isnt really that old imo but it turn i looked into older consoles! i spent a bizzare amount of time looking up console and windows start ups. then i hit the jackpot and somehow... SOMEHOW found a whole entire ps3 with a copy of black ops 2 inside at a thrift store.... for 20 DOLLARS. and that was the setting stone. i got really interested in CRTs, because theyre fuckin awesome. found out actually my parents didnt sell the wii and yup thats mine now. im planning on making a full dvd collection. and luckily my new og xbox has dvd

thats all the basic stuff, really. i havent even touched music but thatll make this 17 billion pages long so im just gonna leave that to other posts. and hopefully i can talk about Neophobia on here and maybe share my art :?
