I've seen other webweavers add bucket lists on their sites.

Either a list of pending things to add to the site itself, or an actual bucketlist with things they want to do over the course of their lifetimes.

I am someone who doesn't really like to share much of their real life online, so I'm not sure how I feel about sharing something so important as what I wish to achieve in my lifetime. I am aware it's not necessarily a bad thing, but I am also reluctant to overshare details of my personal life by default. I do like checking out people's bucketlists, tho.

I guess it also depends on your personal beliefs, like whether you believe writing things down gives them power, or removes it. While I believe writing things down helps taking them out of your mind and into something physical (as to avoid the unforgiving tides of oblivion), clearing them out, that doesn't necessarily include the "show to others" factor.

I've seen people believe that talking about what you wish to do is not good in order to achieve your goals, because it makes your brain be satisfied with the mere act of talking about it (roughly paraphrasing). On the other hand, I've seen people who purposefully share what they do and what they wish they could do because they believe that, the more people "witness" their goals, the closer it'll become to becoming true. Kinda like loudly proclaiming to the universe what you want. Maybe it works like that, or maybe the universe also accepts timid whispers and notes you keep to yourself.

What do you believe?

I think it depends on the kind of person you are, but for me, I can't see myself writing a bucket list of goals that are too intense. There are a lot of projects I'd like to do and aspirations that I have, but having a set plan of serious things I want to do before I die has always just felt kind of... I don't want to say pointless, so maybe shortsighted is a better term for it. I don't know who I'm going to be in five years, much less ten or fifteen, so by the time I'd get to a serious goal I could only do in my thirties or forties, I might not even have any interest in doing it. I'm also the kind of person who doesn't tell a lot of people about my projects and goals because I tend to spoil too much, and I don't want to oversell myself...

However, if a bucket list consists of mainly fun things, I think that's a little more doable as long as it's not a huge commitment. It's the same with New Years Resolutions, if anyone has seen that post on Tumblr that's been going around in some places about Pasta Quest or Fruit Adventure or various other goofy tasks, I think that'd be great to put on a list. Like, hell, I'd like to try every pasta shape before I die.

TL;DR, it really depends on the person, putting super serious goals on a bucket list, for me, is too rigid of a plan for the future and doesn't help me get any closer to achieving things. If you have a goal, just work towards it and make a regular plan without putting extra pressure on yourself. But putting silly, small-scale goals on a bucket list? I think that's sounds pretty good to me!  :4u:

You know @peachdelta, I agree with a lot of what you said: on how "goals" are impermanent because we're not the same person in 2, 5, 10 years or so; and thank you for reminding me of the Pasta Quest post! I personally find goofy goals more doable and shareable.

Because life is not only about achieving, but also (or maybe even more) about experiencing  :cheerR:

I like this idea! I keep a site to-do list in my personal documents but the idea of a public one sounds like fun. As for life goals, I think writing them down in such a format makes it easier for me to, like, conceptualize what I want. So maybe I'll add something like this.
