It helps that it's said right before an infamous boss fight, and FFX doesn't have skippable cutscenes (even the modern ports don't have it wtf) so you're bound to hear it more than once. Being the first fully voiced FF, X for sure has a lot of very good, very iconic quotes within its repertoire but this one said by Auron is very impactful and doesn't need any in-game context for someone to hear it and know that it kind of rules LOL

Final Fantasy IX is one of my favorite RPGs of all time, and I can personally attribute that to the characters. Vivi is one of the big reasons I'm so obsessed with Black Mages, I love his internal adventures of finding his purpose and facing loneliness.
This quote is powerful to me because I recently lost a close family member. I feel like I never got to say goodbye to them before they passed away, but seeing this line on my most recent play through, really resonated with me.

Mouthwashing is one of the only horror-like games that actually terrified me, although the atmosphere was perfect, it was through the slow realization of what was actually happening was what got me.
