We don't seem to have much discussion of the theatre (I mean the theatre, not the cinema / theater) / the art of drama in this forum (or if we do, I couldn't find it), so I figured I should make a thread for it.
My personal dream roles are Medea (from Euripides's Medea), Rosaura / La Signora in the Commedia dell'Arte, & Candela from the musical Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown. I wish I could play Carmen in her eponymous opera, but uh. I am a deeper voiced doll, not quite the type to play a mezzo-soprano prima donna, though I wish I could : (.
Though I'm currently the wardrobe mistress (in charge of costume organisation, maintenance, etc) and a stagehand for my school's spring musical (A production of Seussical), I kind of wish I auditioned.

edit: just realised I called Carmen a soprano role. embarrassing.

I recently saw Saša Stanišić's "Herkunft", it was very cool and left an emotional imprint. Theatre can certainly do something to your emotions that other forms of media often can't.

I was recently reminded of it, so. Opinions on Repo! The Genetic Opera?
It holds a special place in my heart, even if some of the singing is...sub-par.

I loved Sarah Brightman in Repo (I low-key love Sarah Brightman, period) and I was pleasantly surprised by Paris Hilton's acting because before Repo she was known for being a prototype of the Kardashian sisters: a conventionally attractive young rich woman famous for being famous. It turned out she could act, too.

I've not been listening to a lot of musicals lately (although I did just watch the Wicked film and really enjoyed it), but I recently saw a post on Tumblr about Come From Away and was reminded of how emotional it makes me. I still haven't watched the proshot of it since it is cruelly located on AppleTV, the biggest rip off of all streaming services (an incredible accomplishment), and I haven't listened to it in years, but something about the harmonies in it and the use of repetition gets me every time. I knew a girl in high school who had tickets when the tour came through and she took another girl in our class who hates musicals and slept through it. I never forgave.

I did theatre in high school and miss it a lot, but I always knew I was probably never going to be able to justify pursuing it; it's a huge time commitment in an industry with low job security, and I only have experience in straight plays and can't sing despite the fact that the dream would be musical theatre. More specifically, I can't belt, and it seems impossible to make a career out of it in this day and age if you can't belt. I am convinced I would be perfect for Seymour in Little Shop, but I am also wrong.

I love and have technically performed Shakespeare, but it was an abridged production with double--and in some roles triple--casting, so I only actually performed about ten minutes of content that didn't even have the correct meter. My dream role is unfortunately Helena in Midsummer, but the script necessitates that she's taller than Hermia, and I am simply Very Short. I also would give anything to be Viola in Twelfth Night or Horatio in Hamlet.

Recently, though, I've been focusing my attention on writing plays. I had a staged reading of a ten-minute script I wrote this January and was really happy with the result, and I've submitted the script to an event my school does to showcase student research and art. I've been too busy to work on anything else, but I really enjoyed the writing process and would like to do more of it. It's just a matter of choosing plots, because I'm primarily a prose fiction writer and am always going to think of all stories in that format first, so I'm not sure how to decide what should be a play as opposed to what should be prose.
