HEllo!

I need PhotoShop 4.0 to make retro web graphics, as it has specific filters that I need. (The glass filter among other things) To make 90s webgraphics.

However, I am having problems trying to make it work. I have tried on windows 10 with capbility mode but it keeps saying its a 32 bit program and that it cant run on 10.

So then I tried my xp computer, wouldn't work because I didn't have enough "virtual memory ??" Whatever THAT means.

Now I'm kinda at a loss for words, I need the filters but I have been having so much trouble doing this.. its absurd lol. So do you guys have any tips or tricks for this?

Out of curiosity how much RAM does your XP machine have? If you try taking out half of it (assuming you have more than 1 stick) does it fix the error?

It has 2 GBS of RAM. And the warning that popped up said I needed 3 GBS of ram, despite Photoshop being a 3.1 program? Maybe its the fact I was using a program that reads ISO disks that was messing with it... but I'm not sure. Im just annoyed at this point.  :ohdear:

Virtual Memory on older windows is similar to SWAP in Linux systems - a slower, temporary memory that is stored at the hard disk.
You can manually increase it :).

Sometimes the error with very old programs on XP is actually that you have too much RAM  :drat: Though 2GB should not be such an issue it happens more when your at the 4GB limit.

SCRATCH THAT, I found the error "4.0 for Windows will not run on a machine with 1 GB of RAM or more. The 4.0.1 update corrects this. " So you need 4.0.1, you can get it here: https://winworldpc.com/product/ad-ps/4x  :eyes:
