(OLD) Made a website for my music video portfolio!

EDIT: i am officially deprecating my straw.page site as of april 17th, 2026. this platform was so frustrating to use, uffa! from now on, i'm using bearblog. but the screenshots of each iterations will be kept for history’s sake

i’m a music video animator, and i’ve been working on a website using straw.page to put my portfolio where i can showcase my work. i’m still working on it, and i think i might get a custom domain for it someday, but here it is. i hope you enjoy it, and my videos

Hey, cool site and animations. I like the wiggling text and moon cursor. Is there a reason you have a jpeg of the YouTube video that opens a new tab instead of embedding the video in an <iframe>?

well, there is a pretty embarrassing reason… because HTML embeds on straw.page aren’t working. they haven’t worked properly in the 10 months i’ve used this service. and i don’t know if the developer is even aware of it

EDIT: apparently, he is. he gave me a workaround for this. i'll be sure to update the OP with the revised website when i have a chance

Hey! Just logged in for the first time in a while. Yeah, the new site looks better and the embeds are working. What are these services for, actually- hosting? Or do they have tools to avoid direct coding?

I've just listened to the two albums of plant-based music - very nice work.

Maybe consider a more distinct font for the menu etc. that matches your style? Or replace the menu words with images in your the writing style used in your animations.

hi again! if you’re referring to my strawpage site, i’ve pretty much deprecated it, so there will be no changes to it going forward. if you’re referring to my bearblog site, i might try a new font for the body and images for the header someday

to answer your first question: strawpage is a drag-and-drop site builder, so there was no coding involved in making it. and it just wasn’t fun for that reason. on the other hand, customizing the theme for bearblog required experience in CSS, and the content of the pages required HTML. the images are hosted on bearblog itself; every image used on the site is sourced from a private page that only i can access. previously i used catbox, but that was making my page load too slowly
