Help Wanted: Wanting to make a UI/graphic design forum.

I'm an aspiring graphic and user interface designer and I've had issues with finding design communities that aren't on social media. The closest I ever found was https://www.graphicdesignforum.com/, but it felt super "commercialized" and lacking character. Scroll down just the main page and you would find at least one AI profile picture. -_- I have had some success with finding graphic designers on Bluesky, but as for UI designers, a worrying amount of them tend to lean towards the "tech bro" type, AI and all.

With that in mind, I'm considering making a forum for graphic and UI designers with an emphasis on FOSS and a more "indie" atmosphere. I've been discussing this idea with someone I know a bit, but while we have knowledge in community management, neither of us have any forum experience or resources to start a forum. I'm mainly interested in having more people to help discuss, make, and manage the forum, but any help would be appreciated.

I'm not much of a graphic designer (though I've always wanted to learn the skill), but I know a lot about the technical aspects of running forums and forum software. I'd be happy to chat to figure out what y'all are looking to do and offer advice!

Do you mean managing as in moderating? Can you describe the responsibilities as thoroughly as possible?

I'm a community moderator with years of experience, though I've not been moderating forums specifically. I have some knowledge about graphic design, too, but it's not really my area of interest.
