the thing i think i'm currently fixated on lately is either sealife or all the different Vocaloids/UTAUloids that exist.
sealife as in - jellyfish, coral, algae, unicellular sealife, and hydrothermal vents.

but also Vocaloids/UTAUloids as in all the various ones that were released in the 2000s-2010s - like Fukase, Rana, Macne Nana & Macne Petite, and Megurine Luka
or space, if i feel like it. usually it depends on the time of day i'm fixated lol


for instance, when i was waking up this morning (and this was the same for every few days ago too), i couldn't stop talking about the different Vocaloid/UTAUloid's personalities and what they'd be like to interact with, for some reason. i dunno, but thinking Gakupo could kill you easily is pretty funny to me still.

usually if it's during the middle of the day, sealife is what i like focusing on - and same as well when i'm going to bed.
i like phytoplankton, jellyfish/comb jellies, bioluminescence, and even those weird unicellular organisms - like this one!

at night (and twilight usually), i fixate on space. while my city doesn't have the best night sky, i always feel it's really interesting looking through nebulae, white dwarfs, dwarf planets, trojans, asteroids, greeks, and other things too (^_^)

PI (Perfectly Imperfect)! It's a really cool independent social media I've been using lately. It's mainly for giving recommendations (either for media or lifestyle advice), but you can post your writing, art and internet findings there too. The people there are so gorgeous and have great taste, and I've found a lot of super cool websites through using it!

I've recently become obsessed with the indie web, forums, frutiger aero, y2k futurism, "linux ricing", & open source software which is obvious to a lot of people who know me online.

• Certain details I've been reading about the old Cold fusion controversy (the fact that the scientists behind it were chemists & not physicists, the fact that you can filter out hydrogen with palladium which disproves their experiments resulted in nuclear fusion; the book I'm reading is "The Short Life and Weird Times of Cold Fusion")
• Peer to Peer networks (mainly I2P & Soulseek)
• The Spanish Civil War (not because I idealize it obviously, but I'm interested in seeing where certain factions failed & where they were successful and am currently reading a book on it)

i’ve become fixated on different art forms, video techniques, and freelance artist strategies that don’t involve staring at an iPad screen all day or becoming a content creator on tik tok. i’ve explored incorporating photography and videography into my work, as well as getting business cards, passing them around, and pinning them on bulletin boards around town. in a digital age where it feels like all you’re competing against is a wall of noise and fakery, it helps to learn more “classic” methods that anyone can employ and follow

besides, i’d rather die than become a content creator on tik tok lol

in a non-work-related example, i’ve become fixated on taking photos and videos of flowers. something about their colors, shapes, and movements as they sway in the wind captivates me. i love animating them as a result, and hey, i don’t mind incorporating them into music videos

I've been fixated with maximizing my "happiness" as much as possible. It's nice to have me-time with lovely tea, a great outfit, or a picnic in sunlight. But it's less nice if it's a bad day and I can't maximize that happiness! What if the clothes I want are in the wash? Or if it's not actually wise to do what I think would bring happiness, my hands are tied and it's not within my power? Total self esteem destruction. I don't think it's a very good fixation!

Ah but it's such lovely weather today I have no choice but to put on something nice and use my last euros on like, bubble tea or something. To maximize the good vibezzzzzz

I've been obsessed with an indie game called Oolite. It's a ground up remake of the original Elite for the BBC Micro computer in the 80s. Elite: Dangerous is a modern version of the same game.

Oolite is a space trading simulator. At its core, it's very stripped down and basic. You kinda just fly between systems buying and trading resources to make money and fending off space pirates (or becoming one yourself). But it's hecka moddable and I have spent just about as much time as I have playing it modding it and getting it set up on my Steam Deck. It's become something I can just plop onto the couch and sink into.
