yoo i love rhythm games! (even though i'm pretty terrible at them)

my favorite rhythm game is probably beat saber, a VR game where you wield two light sabers and slice blocks flying at you in time to the music.

my second favorite is wacca, an arcade game that looks kinda like a futuristic washing machine. the inside of the big colorful RGB ring is a giant touch surface, and notes fly out from the center of the circular screen towards the ring, and you bap and swipe the surface of the ring to hit said notes. it's super satisfying!

Osu! player here! I also tried clone hero for a while, I play FFR (an old downloadable DDR clone on PC), I've tried DJ hero too but ended up losing the controller for it sadly.

i used to have a pretty big rhythm game hyperfixation, so i tried to download all of the mobile rhythm games i could. i really want to try out some cabinet games (like chunithim, sound voltex, or project diva in arcades) but ive never had the opportunity ;^; currently ive been playing a lot of project diva mega mix on switch and i used to play a looot of project sekai.

osu is pretty fun but im still playing on the really easy charts... wish me luck! (i also really want to get into the osu!lazer testflight on ios ;-;)

The last rhythm game I played was TMNT on Nintendo DS. The one based on the 2007 animated movie. It might not look like a rhythm game, but the platforming is scored based on the timing and accuracy of your button presses so I think it counts

Does this count: EyeToy Groove for the PS2. That one really gets out of hand like a sport session on the higher difficulties.
These simple move-based games like the Eyetoy and the Kinect got developed into complex controllers (starting with the Wii controller for example), definetly something different than just jumping around in front of a camera. So a game genre that faded into obscurity. Undeserved, when everyone could play these dance games on a laptop.

My main rhythm game at the moment is Beat Saber on my VR headset! I try to dedicate about an hour to it a few times a week since it functions as pretty good cardio as well as a rhythm game. I've also recently gotten into playing Stepmania with a USB DDR dance pad I found in a secondhand shop, I'm not great at it yet but it's certainly fun to play. Some other games I've played in the past and pick up now and again are Taiko no Tatsujin on my switch, Osu back when I had a functional drawing tablet, and Cytus on my phone. I've been aching to play the Guitar Hero series on my PS2 but the guitar controllers are still pretty pricey.

I've personally been playing a lot of Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA. There's finally a PC version and my partner gifted it to me on Christmas :dl:

Over at my local arcade, we have this rhythm game called Pump it Up. Basically, imagine a Korean version of Dance Dance Revolution with the arrows being all diagonal and with a center note. The music selection mostly consists of Korean and world music, classical remixes (this is where Beethoven Virus came from!), and rock. The version we have (Fiesta 2) is much older than the current one (XX, with a possible new installment coming next year), but it's still quite fun!
