hi everyone! i'm sokil; you can also call me weston :)

it's been a long time since i've used forums, so bear with me ahahah. i used to frequent some forums in the late 2000s/early 2010s. i'm fairly new to the web revival scene; i've been spending a lot of time hopping around the fediverse (primarily mastodon and lemmy), and it's much nicer than regular social media (don't think i need to say much about how horrible it has become, haha), but i missed being part of forum communities. i feel they're all important parts of taking back the internet.
my friend shared the link to melonland with me last night, so i thought i'd come join! i haven't got my own website yet, but i plan to create one soon.

aside from that, some of my other interests include sports, video games, language learning, history, reading, and old tv/movies. i also draw and paint sometimes, and i like to bake.
i never really know what else to write, but i look forward to meeting you all!

i like all kinds of movies, but my favorite genres are older horror, action, comedy, and historical stuff (both fictional and non-fictional). some of my favorite movies include the deer hunter, silence of the lambs, the shining, i confess, top gun, 1917, another round, my best friend is a vampire, my cousin vinny, and the death of stalin.
