Finding gaming buddies?

Hey all!

I was wondering how you'd go about finding folks to play video games with. I don't play a lot of multiplayer games cause I have no one to play them with. I also have no clue how to find people to game with. I'm awfully shy, so I get nervous just hopping into games with random people with my microphone on. Gaming can get pretty lonely sometimes, even if I'm someone who prefers single player games.

I'd be willing to share my gaming IDs here if allowed, and maybe others can share theirs here too if they want people to play video games with! 

EDIT: I'll add my gaming info here. I mainly play on PlayStation (PS3, PS4, & PS5) and my online ID is luvgone. My Steam username (at the moment) is wangobangy. I also have a Switch but I don't play it very often.

hmm on one hand, Discord servers are a decent way of finding people to play with, but on the other servers are usually game-specific. I can't say I use Discord much for that anyway, since I'm also very nervous about hopping into VCs (even for servers I've been in for years/know the people)

I mostly play single player games, but if anyone here plays Splatoon 3, my Switch FC is 1102-7696-7807 (I also have New Horizons and Scarlet, but I don't play those too often u_u could be convinced though if enough people wanna play together!)
