in late december i finally decided to give Balatro a spin! i now play it nearly every day x3... probably the only roguelike or deckbuilder(ish) that's had any hold on me!
i've also returned to stardew valley to continue one of my saves with my partner! it's not really a game i play a ton, however every couple of years i find myself crawling back to it for a month or so. i also find it one of those games that feels good to leave and come back to!
two games with solo indie developers.

right now i am playing a couple different games:
- darkest dungeon: it's a roguelite, turn-based combat game about exploring the dungeons of a fallen into ruin estate! i am challenging myself to work with a limited amount of heroes and i am naming each hero after one of my friends. it has lead to many funny screenshots!
- infinity nikki: it's a simgle player, open world fashion gacha game. it's one of the comfiest games i've ever seen. it's fairly new, but it already captured my heart. it's full of beautiful locations, clothing items and fun minigames!
- disco elysium: i've played this game so many times and yet i always want more. if you want a narrative rpg experience with a heavy dose of existentional dread, this one is for you. i am finally playing in 'hardcore' more, though i am unsure of what it means for me yet, lol.

I uncovered my old 3DS, and a handful of games that my middle brother and I used to play as little kids- Starfy's a good one, and I have a bunch of Pokemon games. I was feeling nostalgic- I haven't really touched the device since highschool, when I used to bring it in to play with my friend at lunch: and I booted up a new save of Soul Silver, since I love Mareeps, and find it super adorable how the pokemon can follow you around and you can yap at them or check in on them periodically.
Was planning on making a little shrine on my page to catalogue my adventure- and then I came down with pretty violent symptoms of illness running around town, so I laid in bed sleepily playing and crushed two gyms in short succession, only for the Farfetchd quest to drive me absolutely up the wall- I'm so bad at puzzles! But after battling enough weevils to literally level up, I did indeed manage to bypass it. Pretty low energy at the moment, but I've been taking some pictures with my phone and jotting notes on status.cafe for things I might cobble into a more coherent narrative at some point on my website.
