I usually read Goblin Slayer but in 2023 and 2024 I started to buy more I've bought Ghost in the Shell 1, 1.5 and 2. Earlier this month I've bought Gunnm 1 & 2 and it's super good ! I have my eyes on Appleseed next !

  I just finished reading TRUMP and I have started reading Witch Hat Atelier! It seems lately I've been reading a lot of manga that features coming of age themes... 
I have also been keeping up with Chainsaw Man which has been very interesting and I am enjoying the second part a lot.
  I would love to hear about people's favorite manga and ones they would recommend!

My most recent reads are Kagurabachi and Dandadan, both really new shonens that are blowing up in the Manga community. I highly prefer Dandadan for it's fresh mix of genres, fantastic slow burn, and extremely well written characters and romance. Kagurabachi is also wonderful, but it' just a really well written shonen at the end of the day. It felt so fast after reading DDD, and I wish more characters got the spotlight put on them.

I'm not really a yaoi guy, but recently I read all of Manly Appetites: Minegishi Loves Otsu and loved it!  It was really refreshing to see a fat crabby guy be desirable lol. Short, only 3 volumes, very cute and silly, I'd absolutely recommend it if you like romcom stuff.
There's official english copies out there, but it's almost impossible to find scans of all volumes online unfortunately.

TRUMP is a great manga, and one that puts its short length to good use. Hamaguri's got some exceptional art skills. But, I'm finding it a tricky franchise to get into. There's a lot of stageplay stuff that makes me unsure where to start.

i don't read manga as much as i watch anime, but i'm starting to incorporate manga into my reading cycle to break up all the nonfiction i typically read. currently, i've been reading through fire force! it's one of my favorite animes and i was very excited when the third season began a few weeks ago, so i finally decided to commit to reading through the manga. i'm on chapter 84! my reading has slowed down a bit over the last week (alas, doomscrolling comes for all....) but i'm slowly working on replacing the habit with manga again. where i'm at now in the manga is also really helpful for filling in some of the story gaps in my brain since there was a three year gap between season two and now also... i LOVE vulcan. he is easily one of the coolest characters ever.

i've been really wanting to get into more manga but the art styles in half of them are kinda what kills it for me...
though i've been looking at the Touhou manga, in which they've been pretty good at least so far!

Touhou Sangetsusei and Touhou Bougetsushou look good, while Wild and Horned Hermit is okay i guess, though i really don't like Aya Azuma's art style in general. i love ZUN's art style in the games though, and i think the others who worked on others are pretty good too.

the Pokemon manga too, especially gen 3 and XY, i think probably XY though. XY's battles (in the anime) and it's Mega Evolution is reallyyy cool, but i wanna see it in book form.
and i've been wanting to finish of Cells at Work, but the shop i got them from is closed for a loong while, so it's likely i'm gonna get the last two books online aaah

also a little unrelated, but i thought about making my own little indie manga? at least just a few pages to try it. i've been trying to get good at anime style (moreso 2000s since it's easier, less detail and less gradients, more chibi more expressive etc) and i've already kinda done it in a literal paper zine form, though they're usually pretty dry :P
i have Procreate on my tablet, so i might try there. i wanna try drawing one of my OCs in something.

Mostly reading Jojoland as of right now. I realy want to see what Howler's stand dose. As well as Dargona's arc that i think Araki is maybe doing. (might be reading into it but I feel like Dargona's arc is her realize her gender as a transwomen.)

Besides that thinking of geting into more clasic 70s-90s manga so recommendations are welcome.

well i woke up today to find some pretty lousy news: mangadex got slammed with a massive DMCA strike overnight

i'm still reading through the thread, but the spoiler below is from the first page and starts the discussion as to what happened. this is super unfortunate seeing as a lot of these series don't even have authorized translations or releases in many places :/

Note that this is the first time a takedown happened on this scale. Before it was just singular manga on the direct request of the author, or Naver because they're scary.

The chapter listings (a v3 feature where you can see the chapter but can't access the images) will return asap with the unavailable v3 feature. So for the users that use chapter read markers for tracking (please don't), don't worry your markers will return.
The users that want a list of what has been taken down will have to wait for said feature too.

i noticed that tons of stuff from my mangadex library is gone - either entire works or everything but the first few chapters of a series (there are a few where chapter one is still there, and then it's followed by a few random chapters from much later in the series). this really sucks.

What a bummer. I think at this rate, the days of scanlation sites are numbered. People will have to resort to torrents instead. I feel like the culture of anime and manga fandom is just getting more corporate by the year, and instead of the colorful chaos I grew up around a bland, company-approved culture is taking its place.
