It's been a rough few weeks but I'm getting through it! Wondering what songs make everyone feel comforted? Ones that help you get through hard times. Thanks!

Listening to Riverside by Agnes Obel while watching the rain reflect warm streetlights calms me down like nothing else; makes me feel very melancholic in a good way ^^
Valley Winter Song by Fountains Of Wayne is a close second. I think both of these songs comfort me so much because I've known them for so long and listened to them a lot when feeling down.
I hope you get through these rough weeks of yours  :4u:

Bang! By the Raveonettes. I don’t know why but that song reminds me of the day before summer break in the feel.

My Pace by Stray Kids, because the theme of the song is going at your own pace and not worrying about what everyone else is doing... when I was in school there were more than a few occasions where I listened to this song right before an exam.

? by MF DOOM & Kurious and honestly anything from the Sonic CD ost. Listening to Rooftop Run while walking is a great way to get over a bad day

I also like listening to some Starbomb songs for laughs!

Also been having a rough couple of weeks (work, ugh) but we got this!

A lot of Love Spirals Downwards and lighter Cocteau Twins stuff is really cozy to me, but Kate Bush is for sure my biggest comfort listen. When I'm feeling down I'll just shuffle her music

Definitely "I Wanna Get Better" by Bleachers. It's been my "going through it" song since high school. It makes me feel determined to make the most of a bad situation, and like whatever experience I'm going through is something that I'm not alone in, life can suck and be hard for everyone. When I just want calming, comforting music though I tend to put on Message to Bears.

"Everyday Ghosts" by Thank You Scientist is making me feel seen right now.

We can't keep pushing it away

The music by The Gazette usually helps get me through stuff, that and Dir en grey. But currently it's been Pearl Jam and Chevelle. But the song that I love that's been helping me through stuff lately, is Send the Pain Below by Chevelle.

Chevelle-Send the Pain below:

Quote
I liked having hurt
So send the pain below
Where I need it
You used to beg me to take care of things
And smile at the thought of me failing
But long before having hurt
I'd send the pain below
I'd send the pain below
Much like suffocating
Much like suffocating
Much like suffocating (I'd send the pain below)
Much like suffocating (I'd send the pain below)
You used to run me away all while laughing
Then cry about the fact 'til I returned
But long before having hurt
I'd send the pain below
I'd send the pain below
Much like suffocating
Much like suffocating
Much like suffocating (I'd send the pain below)
Much like suffocating (I'd send the pain below)
Much like suffocating
I can't feel my chest
Need more, drop down
Closing in
I can't feel my chest
Drop down
I liked having hurt
So send the pain below
So send the pain below
Much like suffocating (so send the pain below)
I liked, much like suffocating, having hurt (so send the pain below)
Much like suffocating (so send the pain below)
Much like suffocating (so send the pain below)

When i'm feeling down, I like to listen to Mustard Service. It's mostly because my irls and I listen to them a lot and got to see them live once. their music is the feeling of being at a rooftop party at golden hour.

One song that always cheers me up is Your Cat Don't Stand a Chance, they wrote it about their cat Smokey. I have a sticker of him.

It's been a wonky few weeks for me as well lately...but music is the eternal saviour, right? I'll make a little list of songs that I find comforting :-]

  • All I've Got To Do (Beatles)
  • When You're Gone (The Make Believes)
  • Casita Blanca (Jeanette)
  • Pagan Love Song (Annette Hanshaw)
  • Farewell (Europe)
  • Give Me Novocaine (Green Day
  • S.O.S (Pink Lady)

Ohh I LOVE Fountains of Wayne!! My favourite track by them is probably Bright Future In Sales, I think it really captures the misery of the corporate world...But Mexican Wine also has that really nice intro with the electric harpsichord-esque thing too. They're so cool!!

When I'm feeling really down, I put on "What's Up" bu 4 Non Blondes. I personally find it very cathartic because it usually says a lot of things that I'm feeling at the moment when I end up listening to it.

Fellow Feeling by Porter Robinson as well as his entire Nurture Album. His music has helped me through some pretty rough times, so I always go back and listen when I'm feeling down to remind myself I'm gonna be ok.

Car Crash In G Major by Fanclubwallet, Icicles by The Scary Jokes and Hope by Daughter are all very cathartic kind of comforts for me.

For the former two, I project my own experiences onto the lyrics, and it's nice to get a little personal catharsis. For the latter, not only does it come from a game series that also gives me a lot of comfort (Life is Strange) it is also--as the name implies--a very hopeful sounding song. Like a sun rising after a long, arduous day.
