Although it's fun having my fav movie being so obscure I've never run into anyone who's heard of it; the people have a right to know!

Paperhouse is an 80s British kids(?) fantasy(?) horror(?) coming-of-age(??) movie that enchanted and terrified me as a child. It's just sittin around on internet archive so have a gander and discuss below if you need something to do  .

Oooh I'll have to give it a watch!
my favorite obscure movie is NN891102
"After Nagasaki is destroyed in a nuclear blast, Reiichi, believes the sound was caught by his father’s tape recorder. However, he finds the tape to be empty. His trauma leads him into trying to reproduce the sound by any means necessary."
the entire movie is currently on YouTube

Alright so it's technically a miniseries and not a movie, though I have treated it like one long 7 hour movie my whole life. It's called The 10th Kingdom and it came out in 2000. It's a quirky, charming, absolutely bonkers fantasy deal with a completely stellar cast. It's so insanely quotable and wonderful and has been all but forgotten by all but a few who have held it dearly to their hearts all this time. I hear it's free to stream on Freevee with ads? But i recommend getting your hands on the 3 disc DVD set if  you can. Such a fun weird ride the whole way. It'll change your life, I promise.

Oh My Glob, for years I had memories of this movie and never knew what it was! This is so epic, I am gonna watch it later thanks for the free nostalgia vibes and happy feels :)

OH MY GOD I LOVE PAPERHOUSE!!!!!  :ozwomp:

I'm a huge fan of dark, eerie children's films in general tbh. This movie has such a bizarre, haunting vibe that I can't get enough of (which makes sense, considering the director of this also made Candyman). If you want a movie with a similar energy, I'd recommend The Reflecting Skin, which isn't a kids movie at all honestly, but it has that Lynchian style approach to childhood fantasies.
