Unsure if it's a "classic" although it certainly has a place of honor in the horse girl canon, but I only saw Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron for the first time about a month ago. I really liked it! The animation is lovely and I like how they mostly avoided having the horses speak, apart from body language (could have done without the narrator though). The soundtrack was cheesy but I liked it, and I think the themes of freedom and anti-colonialism were very well done. Just a really good horse movie overall. I have not seen the sequel, it looks horrendous Dx

I also only saw Millennium Actress pretty recently, and that one was great as well. I liked the blending of fantasy and reality and the love story at the core of the film was a very sweet one. Very cool movie!

currently working through the lord of the rings movies (:

I haven't seen Lord of the Rings since I was small and I've been dying to rewatch them again soon. It's been so long it might as well be my first time watching them. I really love the way those movies were made and I love Peter Jackson's stuff, so I hope I like them as an adult.

i've watched fellowship and two towers so far (extended cuts) and i'll probably watch return of the king tomorrow. i'm enjoying it although i'm normally not huge on fantasy settings

I haven't seen those since I was 8! I should probably rewatch them :ozwomp:

Speaking of Lord of the Rings, I just watched those movies for the first time recently! I had made it most of the way through the theatrical versions before with my best friend, but we never finished. However, we ended up going with my mother to see the extended versions in theatres recently! I loved the movies (and also fell in love with Legolas :loved: )---they were absolutely splendid and very moving. Peter Jackson did a wonderful job---for most of Return to the King I was literally on the edge of my seat.

I've only watched the Hobbit since I watched it in school once.. but LotR is on my list!

Most of the "cutural classics" I haven't watched or like watched recently, stuff like Star Wars or Back to the Future or the Princess Bride (second favorite movie) or Scott Pilgrim (first favorite movie)

The most recent one was the 1990's Clue movie, and dang does it still hold up! I absolutely love the last line of the "true ending" version because it almost feels like one of those memes, he's like "it was me, in the cellar, with the pipe" (i dont remember the actual location/item) and its so good aaa

I've only just recently seen Clueless!! I can see why it's so popular, I had such a good time. Plus, its Shakespearean associations are pretty cool.

I don't watch a lot of movies but tuning in to my community's Discord movie nights has exposed me to some interesting cult classic titles that other people have a lot of interest in. The two most notable so far have been Romy and Michele's High School Reunion (1997) and Love At First Bite (1979).

I'm not the best at describing plots to others but I can tell you the theme of the night they were played on.

Romy and Michele was streamed for a curation called Womantic Movie Night, which is just a quirky reference meant to mean strong friendship between two women. It was streamed alongside Jucy 2010 (which I also recommend, reckon it'll be harder to find though) and as an aromantic I really appreciated a film that focused so heavily on the importance of friendship while going through the ups and downs. It was a really fun watch :]
Brief cw:
Spoiler
First act has some harmful weight loss stuff going on.

Love At First Bite was streamed for Dracula Disco night. It had less disco than I was expecting, but made up for it with a passionate depiction of Dracula in love with a woman embodying an "old soul" that he's met twice before. After being evicted from his Romanian estate, he moves to New York with Renfield on a mission to find her in her present body as an American model. It was a fun watch :]
Brief cw:
Spoiler
Brief antiblack stereotype gags, drugging and kidnapping near the end.

i watched war of the worlds (2005) a few weeks ago, but unfortunately i didn't have a great time :( (spoilered for discussion of real-world tragedy)

Spoiler
when my mam suggested putting on the film i was happy to check it out, but i had no idea what it was actually about - just that it was a classic. i think the movie was objectively good, but it was far too harrowing for me to enjoy. it felt like watching a car crash or however the phrase goes - i didn't want to see it, but i couldn't look away.

the scene that hurt me the most was probably the scene where the boat is pulling up its gates to leave, and there are still people hanging on and falling off as it does so. it reminded me of the time i walked in on my dad watching a documentary about the liverpool hillsborough disaster which, for those who aren't familiar with english football, was a fatal crowd crush at sheffield's hillsborough stadium in which 97 people passed away and many more were injured. the documentary included footage of real people hanging onto the stands just like in that boat scene from the movie, and again, i was deeply upset but couldn't look away :(

i haven't had the chance to watch many world-invasion/similar movies, but i don't think i'll be able to see too many more, after watching the movie even just thinking about it makes me nervous, and i can't even watch children's movies with the concept (e.g. the lego movie, in which the main villain wants to glue all the lego pieces to make a perfect scene, told from the perspective of the lego people who's worlds are effectively coming to an end) without feeling a little ill  :notgood:

While not exactly a movie, I have started watching a bunch of my libraries' collection of Monty Python's Flying Circus dvds. Dry British humor apparently tickles me just right, and I'm excited to watch thru the rest of them.

Titanic (1997) baby!!!! Basically, a few months ago I for some reason caught the RMS Titanic bug for the first time since I was like 8 years old. Not a hyperfixation per se- the sinking of the Titanic is just a very fascinating topic and I think many, many people agree on that. Anyway a part of that was the sudden craving to watch the 1997 blockbuster film Titanic.

I probably don't need to clarify that Titanic (1997) is like, a huuge culturally prominent film, but it's because of that that I was kind of under the impression it must have been a little bad. But my sudden fascination with the sinking of the RMS Titanic, and my pre-existing love for Romeo+Juliet (another action-heavy 90s romance with DiCaprio as the love interest) kind of pushed me into watching it for the first time a few months ago, and it really captivated me. It's a very impressive film, is the best I can describe it. It's determination to portray the ship itself as accurately as possible really tickled me, and of course the whole last half involving the gradual crash and sinking is very harrowing and gutwrenching to watch happen before you. And of course it's all wrapped around this very charming period drama too... There's a lot to like about this movie, which probably isn't surprising since Titanic (1997) is a 3.5 hour long movie. It kind of feels like two films in one sometimes LOL
