I'm boring and use Windows 11 mainly, I used to hate Mac but ever since I got my MacBook Pro I fell in love with MacOS... The two behemoths are battling for my soul!

This reminds me of this classic:

I am actually really keen to try Linux and other older OS's for fun, I'd love to hear some suggestions on what I should dual boot  :ha:. Recently my uncle gave me his old Windows XP machine that needs repairing and I'm excited to eventually get that thing booted up!  :pc:

I think so? I honestly wasn't sure how to subdivide Linux versions :ohdear:

xfce is a bit old fashioned, but up to date.
There are countless ways to subdivide Linux, so I'd say yours is just as fine as any other ;). Alternatively, you could ask directly for the UI: the most popular are probably KDE, GNOME, Cinnamon and XFCE. Mate and LXDE are much smaller players. Everything else is (at least for end-users) highly exotic.

I use Ubuntu with XFCe. I use a theme called Chicago95, and it's pretty damn close to the real thing!

Debian 12 here, with Trinity, which is based on a version of KDE from the aughtttss, so, definitely retro, no matter what you do with it!

win10, but heavily modified to get rid of all the annoying useless garbage, and also customized quite a bit. i can only imagine how hellish it must be to use win11 lmao

Sadly i've never had a good enough reason or the right kind of build to use linux, though I've always wanted to try it out. My job/school is too normie for me to use earlier windows builds :')

Yeah, it’s still how I access this forum on desktop. I like using it.

It still works fine, even the Yesterweb ring still works.

my main computer runs windows 10, my little computer for school runs windows 11. the former doesn't support windows 11 without modifications, so when 10 runs out of support i'll install linux on it. i'm leaning towards ubuntu, partially because i know it's compatible with my drawing tablet and also because i don't want to get myself into anything too technical yet. i might dual boot it with win 10 or 11, but i don't know how much of a point there would be to that when i already have a windows 11 computer as well.

windows xp is my favorite operating system, and i love windows 7, 9x, and vista too. i wish it was reasonable for me to use one of those as my daily driver because it would bring me so much joy.

My computer runs Windows 11, but I'd love to upgrade to a custom desktop laptop that runs some kind of Linux distro!
